Toney is one of my favorite fighters but Dempsey wears him down and either stops him late or decisions him.

The. 217 pounder on roids toney OF the holyfield fight would make the archaic caveman look stupid, sorry nostalgic guys OF the club OF janitor, toney had definitely the chin TO take the overrated power OF dempsey, and no ****ing way dempsey would have won a desicion vs the smart accurate counter puncher toney

These geezers think Dempsey would stop Toney. James has never been stopped in 90 pro fights. The man had an iron chin and an infallible defence and we are talking about the best ever HW verson of Toney here. What drives these guys to think a crude 189 pound brawler is going to to stop toney:rofl
Toney would take him to school. The philly shell didn't even exist in Dempsey's time. Dempsey would be swinging fruitlessly at air and eating counter right hands for his troubles.
James would put Dempsey's lights out.

Just how much is a win over that version of Holyfield worth?

He was loosing to everybody around that time.

There is no such thing as a fighter that you could be confident of Dempsey being unable to stop.

If he can hit you he can cave the ront of your skull in.

Above the neck Toney had a good defence below it his body was wide open. Mike the body snatcher McCallum found it easy to get to his body. Dempsey was a good body puncher! Fact!

How can you realistically be confident that a guy who can cave in somebody maxillary bone with a left hook, is not going to be able to stop a given fighter?

When a fighter has that kind of power, it follows that if you are made of flesh and bone, he is going to be able to stop you in some circumstances.

    Laws of physics.

If you are confident, then your confidence is grossly misplaced.

My first question would be, why does it matter?

You presumably would not argue that Toney hit harder than Firpo, whatever it was.

On paper it would have been his win over Jess Willard, though you could perhaps make a case for a couple of other people.

You are dismissing Toney's credentials. I propose the holyfield victory was harder to attain than the Willard victory.

Sharp counter power, I rank Toney harder yes. Blunt accumulation, Firpo.
