Well said. At least you make your point without giving me loads of abuse, and of course you are right about " supporting one of our own".
Having just left work at 9.30 tonight, 11.30 last night, and after midnight on Tuesday night, maybe it's ME that is the fool taking too much punishment!!!
I'm beginning to think Andy should box on after all....either way I'll be rooting for him as always...cheers. :good

I think Korobov is a bit chinny. I favor him to beat Andy, but I wouldn't count anybody out against a chinny man.

Out of interest STB how do you rate Andys chances in a potential fight against Korobov?
Since you are both a boxing fan and an "economist", and to make it easy for you, I will give you a range of scenarios, incorporating both a boxing scenario and an equivalent economic opinion (in brackets.)
Choose a category if you dare!

    1. Andy can't lose..and will win by ko1. ( no recession is possible in our new invincible 'Celtic Tiger' economy....as per pretty much all established 'establishment' Irish economists and cheerleaders for the 'boom' 2000-2006)

    2. Andy may have to work a bit but will win by late ko or wide points decision, hardly lose a round. (Any slowdown will be temporary..'the fundamentals are sound'...same guys 2007)

    3. Andy will lose a few, but win out clearly in the end. (There will be a bit of a downturn, but we will have a 'soft landing'...same guys 2008...)

    4. Andy is fatally flawed and loses this and any other major fight he is in big time. (The Irish economy is a bubble and its gonna bust into a catastrophic recession..Davy Mac ..date...anytime he was asked!)

( It goes without saying I will be cheering for Andy regardless.....)

If I was making odds Id have andy at about 2/1.
    Hows that for simplicity?

As for the economic add ons, its nonsense. Fighters have a certain talent level, a physical peak and a then finish forever. economies dont just finish forever. Recessions dont "finish" economies.
Otherwise America would have never recovered from the late 20s.

So please stick to the boxing.

If you think Korobov is something special and Andy has no chance, you're entitled to that opinion, The Korobov I know has been pro for 6 years and his biggest win is over that unpronouncable Venezuelan he just fought.

He was about 5 seconds away from being stopped in the first by Derek Edwards.

You think Andy cant land a big punch?

I don't think Korobov is anything great at all. I don't think Andy is either. As an irish fan I will be rooting for Andy but as a boxing fan fights like this demean "world titles".
Purely from an objective point of view, neither of these guys should be contesting the world middle weight title, that's all. This is obviously a tactical decision by someone to pair these two, knowing that the winner will not hold onto the "title" long.

As for Andy landing a big punch...no chance. He stands a far better chance of outlasting Korobov, who has major stamina problems IMO. People seem to think Andy has some sort of killer punch. In fact he really has only even chinned two guys that I recall. Carl Daniels and John Jackson. Daniels was so far gone he probably shouldn't have been in a boxing ring, and Jackson was a crude novice and not even a middleweight one at that.

I for one thinks Andy has a great chance to win this world title, the WBO is a big belt and if other fighters dodge or skip then people like Andy who never dodged anyone is well entitled to there shot, anyone have an inside as to where it will be on,must get accomodation sorted,UP LIMERICK--UP ANDY!!!!!

If Andy benefits, earns a few quid and maybe even beats Korobov, then fair play to him. I can't help feeling though that this is all just wheeling and dealing by W arren trying to tee up a nice soft "world title" for BJS or maybe Eubank.

This way his man can claim to have won the title in the ring, beaten the champ etc.
I think Andy or Korobov, whoever wins, will be just a caretaker champ, put in to keep the title warm for BJS/Eubank.
Both BJS and Eubank beat either Andy or Korobov pretty easily IMO.

But what the hell, don't look a gift-horse in the mouth as they say. Be a nice way for Andy to wrap up his career, if he can get the win....

    You think Eubank beats Lee?

    Based on what performance?
