Taylor has always been a class act. However, leading up to the first Pavlik fight he all of a sudden snapped and started trash talking.
It's more kind of the stuff he's saying seems a bit nutty, the **** you god bless you thing is wile out there. And for a guy just arrested for shooting his think he'd tone done the gun stuff

Maybe it was just his public image. FWIW, Manny Stewart back in 2007 said Jermain had some "street thug" in him. I want to hear more about the shooting. He fired "multiple times" at his cousin but did not get charged with attempted murder? What did he do? Fire at his feet and make him dance?
I think what Jermaine Taylor said was stupid, insensitive, and stupid. But I think there is a reason that racially insensitive comments made with regard to whites, is not held to the same level of criticism. These comments were made in a majority white, racially charged country, within which the white community hold the majority of the privilege (quite significantly so across the western world, as well). On top of this, there is also a significant, and very relevant, history of racial tensions and divides in the US. Racially insensitive comments made towards minorities, especially African Americans, carry the weight of history and context. As a result, I strongly believe that whilst Taylors comments were stupid and offensive, theyre simply not as bad as if a fighter like Pavlik had done the same. Im going to do my best to avoid getting into this debate, because I think its heading straight down a dodgy path (especially given the reform weve seen here), but I strongly believe that the context and history of exploitation and privilege are the reason for racially insensitive (or outright offensive) remarks towards minorities carrying more weight. And Ill reiterate, that does not mean I find Taylors comments to be acceptable. Its not helpful, its not needed, and it is offensive
Maybe he was making fun of Hopkins. If anything, Jermain just makes himself look bad with those comments. PC/Un-PC/Racism/whatever aside, he had to say he wouldn't lose to "another"...because he's already lost multiple times to white fighters.
I heard his cousin and his friend came to his home uninvited. Maybe the defense is using that as an excuse in that he was defending himself against intruders. Who really knows what happened. Hope he doesn't do time though.
