Now I'm pretty sure we all know how this one ended, but do you think Oscar saw a way out of finishing the fight, or did he legitimately get tagged with a paralyzingly body shot?

I'm going to say it was a legit shot. Don't get me wrong oscar is known for gassing in fights and sometimes blowing bigger fights, but he is not known for quitting. Bhop did indeed hit him with a debilitating blow.

Thats fair. I mean Hopkins is bigger than Oscar and even though Hopkins isn't known to be a devastating puncher I could see it being legitimate. I just personally didn't think it was.

What did he have to gain from losing a fight to Hopkins like that?

Anyone who has ever fought and been hit with this punch can tell you how debilitatingly painful being hit with this punch is. To have it delivered from an elite pro....no, Oscar wasnt faking.

De la Hoya was simply decisively beaten by a far superior fighter

Basically my thoughts too. It connected perfectly and there was that typical delay in when the pain resonated through his body. Had all the symptoms of the perfect body punch.

I thought I was in the minority in thinking that it was a legit ko

Anybody who thinks Oscar took a dive has never taken a hard liver shot.

DLH was before I came to boxing, but based on what I saw, he's one of the biggest bums ever and I wonder why he was hyped like that.
