Looked good last time out, but has problems stepping on the gas pedal when he should. I'd still pick Makabu to beat him.

Ya apparently Makabu was trying to fight him and Mchunu's team turned him down.

I really like his classic Cuban style but he can get complacent & coast in fights he could be doing more to impress in.

I haven't seen the stoppage & Mwekassa is a genuine puncher so I'm not sure how big a question mark there is over his chin, its certainly hard to catch him clean & often though.

Of the 3 African cruisers I think Mchunu will be the hardest to beat, he's the most polished & by the most defensively adept.

Makabu & Kalenga are both more fun to watch though & will always be in more exciting fights.

That's Mayweather's style copied to a southpaw stance right there. I loved his schooling of Chambers. He falls short in the height and power departments. Not sure how he'll cope with the top of the division.

Yeah. It was the first time I'd seen him, and I'm guessing the same for most others. He's continued to look impressive - though he's shown one or two vulnerabilities since.

It's just so damn unusual for someone at CW to use a kinda slick defensive style successfully that the guy really bears watching. He's climbed pretty high in the CW rankings without having faced anyone that serious except for Fast Eddie (who turned out to be not so very fast as a CW), so there could be some stern tests in front of him, but so far Mchunu's really impressed me.

Makabu is hardly inept on defense he's got a James Toneyish style going on and is quite slick for such an aggressive guy and while him and Kalenga are guaranteed excitement that and their country are the only things i would group them together in.

Kalenga has serious power but little else and is pretty crude, a slightly better Kayode, while Makabu has the potential to be a strong titlist in a strong era. I also don't see any serious flaws like Mchunu's chin or habit of being lazy or any glaring styles matchups that could cause him trouble. He'll do better against a wider variety of guys ultimately being more difficult to beat IMO.

Makabu is pretty slick in the pocket but isn't the most mobile & spends a lot of time on the outside just stood still with a high static guard. I agree with the Toney comparison & at times he looks sensational when he's slipping, rolling & ripping off combinations.

I get the sense that like Toney, Makabu will have trouble with movers who can exploit his flat feet. Mchunu would be a horrible match-up stylistically for him imo.

Kalenga is very different, I was just comparing the 3 of them as they're all African & ranked in the top10.
