Then you've missed it mate, I most certainly would have done the same again,at no point did Ricky indicate he wanted the fight stopped
You need to understand I get to know my fighter you have no idea what he's like in a gym or out of it, so I'd like to think I'm in a far greater position to make a judgement call but thank you so much for your unnessasary advice on what I should and shouldn't do during a fight

thats fine billy but i have my opinion just as much as you have yours. you were in the ring very close to him but i heard him on tv telling you his jaw was busted and he was in pain, he looked very distressed. but if you can sleep well at night without even a thought that you might have done wrong then i just hope that other boxers think twice before employing you to not only make them champions but look after their health.
the most worrying thing is that you cant even bring yourself to admit that only maybe you did wrong and regardless if you did you would do the same thing again.

billy was thinking of pork jowls he had marinating in the fridge for when he got home, rather than burns' chin.

There was nothing wrong with the corner work during the Beltran fight.

Angelo Dundee was aware Ali had a broken jaw against Norton but let the fight continue, was he also in the wrong?

listen mate im not picking on you specifically on this subject. its just that it was watching ricky at the weekend that reminded me about it. i know that boxing is a hard sport and was involved in it at amateur level to a pretty high standard but it just really bugs me when you see things that could be avoided.
joe gallagher with john murray was another one i mentioned. its refreshing to see guys like gary locket who have been involved in the fight business looking out for the health of their fighters by pulling them out (enzo mac in a world title fight) that is how you look after a fighter billy.
the fact you would still do the same shows your ignorance and ego and its no less than i expect from someone who only had a bout or 2 when he boxed. i also bet that joe gallagher would still do the same too.

We don't know - corner work wasn't so intrusive as it is now with cameras catching every thing that gets said or done.

But fact of the matter is, Ali would have been in pain, but continued and was allowed to continue by Dundee. Burns, likewise was in pain, but continued and was allowed to continue by Billy.

but like you said we dont know as much because we never seen as much of the corner work. we all watched ricky in pain in the corner and how beltran had him pinned against the ropes smashing his jaw round after round. ali was a very special fighter that used his movement when he was injured and would have rarely been caught clean again. ricky on the other hand shipped left hook after left hook on his injured jaw. i cant even remember billy telling him to keep away from the left hook or stay off the ropes or even ask him to use lateral movement to keep away from beltran. can you remember him giving any advice like that?

Burns has always been very very limited. Nelson got the best out of an extremely limited fighter. I don't even think Burns is on the slide. He's just limited as **** and got very lucky in his career. He also is lucky that his defensive cover up keeps him safe due to his long arms. Martinez turned out of be one dimensional and fairly easy to outbox. Mitchell was Mitchell. Katsidis was washed up. Other than that, he probably could and should have lost 4 of his last 5 fights, the Gonzalez one being debatable. Burns is probably the biggest overachiever in British boxing history.

the big difference between Ricky's fight and Johns was Ricky was well in that fight, do remember Ricky's face was unmarked against Beltran unlike John's
Enzo couldnt v Walsh for examplesee out of his leading eye FFS and Gary done the right thing, I've pulled fighters out when I knew they had no more to give Appleby v Walsh for example

As I've said you need to know your boxers boxingcrazy
Never once has Ricky said since the Beltran fight he thought I should have pulled him out the fight and ultimately that's what matters
