What? Me?? I wanna see GGG vs Ward, of course, just so that the haters finally shut their mouth. Ward is overrated in my opinion and would get knocked out This is the reason he ducked the fight against GGG twice. First time when he was supposed to fight instead of Macklin, but just did the moderator job and second time in his comeback against a nobody. Now he is disappeared again for a year. Not sure if he ever fights again.
He was already down in his career and GGG would take advantage of it.

A fight against is Floyd is just more entertaining. No one knows and cares about Ward except some ESB fanboys.

He fought the loser of Hill-Michalczewski, then justified his disgraceful opponents by saying "it's my mandatory Larry, if I don't fight 'em they take my belts from me."

Check this interview, after Roy, who regarded himself as P4P#1 beat up a COP. Can you imagine if PBF fought a COP in his next fight?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0Erh4RKbHE

Look at the panic in his eyes when Larry puts it to him about the disgraceful fights he was taking.

    It was his mandatory.

And while Hill-Darius was a competitive event, Roy destroyed Vergil.

    Early and brutally !

First and only man to stop LHW Hill.

Roid Jones was extremely afraid of Michalczski, made up so many excuses not not fight him, Roid would have been knocked out...................

The fact he jumped up from the most competitive division in boxing at the time to fight man in his 40's and still didn't fight the top light heavyweight available is unforgivable and damning.

Jones Jr got a gift from HBO when they guaranteed him $5 million per fight. It allowed him to make a lot of money without having to make big/risky fights. It's obvious that he wasn't looking to test himself or set himself a great legacy, he was simply trying to make as much money as he could with the minimal effort.

Both Jones and DM seemed happy not to fight one another both were making good money without the other and because Jones Jr was being over paid any potential fight would not have given either fighter a significantly bigger purse. But as the fighter coming into the division where there was a clear established champion in DM, the onus was on Jones Jr to chase the fight but he never did he never really wanted it and never pushed or pressured for the fight to be made, hence the name "Reluctant Roy".

This video has been posted so many times.

Ricky Frazier should never have been Roy's mandatory.

No disrespect to Ricky, but it was a joke of a fight.

However, look at who HBO wanted Roy to fight in the video.

In his very next fight, he unified the division against Reggie Johnson.

He then fought Telesco the following year.

Regarding DM and Bernard, everyone knows two things.

    1. Bernard priced himself out of a rematch. He expected Roy to go down in weight, for half of the purse, even though he'd previously lost to him, and Roy was considered the best fighter in the world.

    2. Roy had no intentions of travelling to Germany, and Dariusz had no intentions of travelling to the U.S.

But the difference is, Roy would go on to have big fights against Ruiz, Tarver and Calzaghe etc, (which proves he wasn't just content to fight subpar opposition) whilst DM was content to just carry on milking his WBO belt in Germany.

    Brighton bomber,

How's it going mate? It's been a while since we've debated.

    You've been harsh here.

He beat the guy who was classed as the 2nd or 3rd best fighter in the world at the time, in Toney.

He then fought a few mandatories.

He then went up to LHW, when certain other fights didn't get made.

The Benn fight was hard to make, and there's a video on YouTube, just prior to the Brannon fight, where Roy conducts a live interview in the ring, with HBO, and boxing writers - Steve Farhood, Tony Paige, and Ron Borges.

I can't post the link at the moment, but if you want to see it, just simply type into YouTube - Roy Jones Jr In-Ring interview.

Now if you've followed Roy throughout his career like I have, you'll know that Larry Merchant and Ron Borges were two of Roy's biggest critics.

Now in the interview, they don't doubt or dispute a single word that he says.

Also, there's a link online, where Frankie Liles's former manager - Jack O'Halloran, states that Liles had a great fight lined up against Roy, but he went back at the last moment and demanded more money. Even though according to Roy and HBO, he'd been offered his biggest purse. After Liles had asked for money, O'Halloran then walked away and left him.

    Again you're being harsh.

I agree that Roy was sat pretty on his contract, but he wasn't just content to fight subpar opposition, as the YouTube video suggests.

    Also, look at his resume.

He went on to fight Ruiz, Tarver and Calzaghe etc, and a Holyfield fight was almost made.

Bernard priced himself out of a rematch, and Kerry Davis of HBO, did try and bring Dariusz over to the U.S.

    The onus wasn't on Roy.

Why should the best fighter on the planet, have had to go to Germany, when he'd been scarred from the Olympics, and he'd no doubt seen Dariusz take a dive against Roch?

Go and look at their resumes.

After the belt fiasco, Dariusz had no intentions whatsoever of testing himself. He was content to fight Roy's left overs and other B and C class guys in Germany for good money.

Again, efforts were made by Davis and Roy's advisor - Brad Jacobs, to try and get Dariusz to the U.S.

I'm sure you must have seen General Zod's links?

This topic has been done to death.

But the bottom line is, both fighters had huge egos and neither one were willing to travel.

But it's unfair to just lay the blame at Roy's door.

Because despite what was said in the press, Dariusz and his advisor - Peter Kohl, had no intentions of fighting Roy.

Jones avoided Jackson, Benn, McClellan, Collins, Liles, Hopkins rematch, Calzaghe, Jirov, Nunn, and Michalczewski etc because he wasn't interested in legacy. He simply wanted to make the most money with minimal risk. His outlook was "why risk getting your glass jaw shattered or caught roiding overseas when you're protected by a lucrative soft HBO contract which allows you to pick and choose your opposition".

His favourite excuses were the "I'll get robbed overseas" and "I have to fight the mandatories for my meaningless trinkets".

stfu with the knee this knee that, serg was concussed and admitted so. cotto ended the fight with the first clean left hook he landed. serg' kneeS weren't there because he was out on his feet most of the fight.

jesus the excuses, cotto ruins ANY version of serg. less skills, way way less of a chin and even worse stamina. no contest, the 154/5 version of cotto stop serg a mil out of a mil x

Roy by wide UD, way too fast and sharp at his best, it would have looked like, well....most Jones fights around that time.

DM was good, I just don't think he was on that level. I don't think Jones comes close to stopping him though, he was solid.

Both sides were to blame for the fight not happening.
