I am sure he was, has always came across that way until he went OTT with comments to Scott, but was big enough to apologise, so respect. I am also a Curtis fan tbh, followed his career closely, but Scott is my all time favourite boxer so got to support him. With regards to Curtis fighting Willie, Curtis hit nail on head when he said too predictable as Peter Harrison schooled Ryan Rhodes with his tactics. But from Curtis point of view he is obviously smart enough to had noticed technically he never got it right
Moog is someone who thinks curtis was totally wrong with what he said but the stuff his hero said is perfectly fine (especially as curtis didn't include him in the first place as he complemented a guy who's done far more with his talent than the alky)
Correction, Curtis sent a tweet to Scott, and others saying Ricky will win a third world title. To which Scott responded, how he cant fight (looks truth at moment). Did Scott end up saying one or two things he shouldn't have, yes he did (which he apologised for). If Scot does or not have a drink problem I don't know, but if he does its a illness. Yes Scott could have had a better career than he did, but accomplished more by the age of 28 than Ricky has ever done in a far harder era
but moog compare Ricky's and Scott's opponents and it's clear as day Ricky's opponents were better. Martinez,Katsitas, Moses,Mitchell,Beltran Crawford Gonzalez FFS mate pls get real Even the best Scott fought in chacon, medina , mc culloch they were the best three don't compare really, we'll medina in his prime was excellent, chacon was very good but done nothing afterwards
No way, Scott fought those guys in a far harder era, a lot of boxers then who couldn't win a world title who would have won a few in recent years, guys like Michael Brodie. Scott beat 6 or 7 men that have at some point won world titles. If Ricky was at his peak in 2002-2005 era he wouldn't have been in top 10 at SFW or LW.
Billy Ricky has fought two world class opponents in his career Martinez and Crawford. If Scotts opponents fought now Johnson, Tracey Patterson, Mendina, McCullough, Chacon, Abelyn, Brodie would all be classed as world class.
No curtis said a tweet about ricky, Harrison jumped in and went down a certain road where aims it was fair game for Curtis to bring up his past as scott was hardly being nice about him As for Harrison v burns, harrison should have done much more with his talent, don't think that can be said for ricky
I agree Scott should have done more with his talent, e.g. I think if he never went of rails he would have won at least 5-6 world titles over 3 weight divisions. I also agree Ricky used his talent better, but that talent/ability was well off being as good as Scotts. Ricky imo in my time watching boxing used his talent best out of all UK fighters, though my look of him physically at weekend that work ethic has disappeared
Agree with all of that, burns was in shocking condition with that gut over the weekend, not expecting to have muscles like tim Bradley but at least look in decent shape!!
Johnson was shot to bits Patterson shot even more McCulloch was a midget compared to Scott Chacon was very good Abelyn should never have fought for a world title Brodie was done after his two fights with chi Medina was a excellent fighter at the end of his career Who moog did Scott fight in there prime like Martinez, Mitchell, bBeltran, Gonzalez and Crawford The answer is simple only Chacon
Billy Mitchell Beltran Gozalas are way of World class, have never been world class. McCullough says Scott was better than Naz and Moralas after sharing a ring with all 3, does that not say a lot? Yes Scott was bigger than opponents but so is Ricky ! Mendina was world class when Scott hammered him, maybe slightly past best but still world class. McCullough was world class, so was Brodie (he fought wrong fight going toe to toe with Scott, was competitive till Scott broke his ribs)
Behave Moog Brodie was done , Wee Brian Carr was getting the better of him before he papped the nutt on Brian then Injin Chi wasted him
Billy I really think you are being unkind to Scott's opponents!! I like you and your loyalty for Ricky and what you done together but you have to give Scott a bit more credit imo. Michael Brodie: Nobody knew that Michael Brodie was actually done after the 2 In-jin Chi fights because Scott was the first bout after these wars. Just like nobody could have known Ricky would be on the slide after his bouts with Gonzalez and Ray Beltran Tracy Patterson: This fight was only his 12th bout mate and Patterson was a very good test at that point of his career wouldn't you agree? Tracy Patterson had boxed at Super Feather and boxed for world titles at that weight and only 2 fights before he boxed Scott he drew with Junior Jones who was a world class fighter at that time. Around the same time of their careers Ricky got a great win over Graham Earl but Earl was domestic level and nowhere near world level. Tom Johnson: Not a bad fight for your 13th pro fight wouldn't you agree? He might have been on the slide but he wasn't totally done. Anyone with the skills that Tom Johnson had could have gave a relative novice in Scott Harrison their first defeat if Scott wasn't totally prepared. Just look at Ricky with Alex who he fought in his 14th fight, he gave a good account of himself but overall got beat on experience and for all Alex's good points imo he was never world class but around world level. Wayne McCulloch: Wayne was his first bout after winning the world title from Chacon, he was a very good name and after his defeat to Erik Morrales, Wayne had stopped his first 3 opponents at Featherweight! No one expected Scott to beta Wayne as easy as he did and imo Scott was the one who truly finished Wayne off. Ricky's first defence after beating the very good Rocky Martinez was Andreas Evenson, Evenson is a nice kid but should never have fought for a world title!! You have worked with Evenson and i'm sure you would agree. William Abelyan: He had a decent record and there has been worse fighters to get a world title shot imo, Joseph Lareya was just as bad a defence considering that he was taken over as an opponent to set up an all Scotland clash against Paul Appleby. Nobody expected Paul to turn up looking like he was getting the win regardless and he paid the price. Even if Paul had won against Joseph he was not worthy of a world title shot and imo Abelyan was more worthy than either of these 2. Manuel Medina: Medina was an excellent fighter and despite his advancing years was able to win the IBF Super Featherweight title after Scott beat him in the rematch. Imo Ricky has never faced a fighter with the decoration of Manuel Medina, medina was an IBF, WBC and WBO World Featherweight champion and held some of these titles on more than 1 occasion. Now i think Terence Crawford might well end up more decorated than any of ricky's other opponents but at the minute he hasn't proved that so we can see what happens as Crawfords career progresses. Imo Medina and Chacon are as good as anyone Ricky has faced in Terrance Crawford and Rocky Martinez who imo are the only credible world class opponents that Ricky has faced. Mitchell isn't any better than Brodie, everytime Kevin has stepped up he has been beat and it was the same for Brodie but imo In-Jin Chi was slightly better than Katsidis who destroyed Kevin Mitchell. Beltran and Gonzalez were around the same level as Abelyan, Tom Johnson and Tracy Patterson imo, Gonzalez might have had better skills but gassed badly and has never fought again and beltran imo will never win a world title and his bout with Ricky was his one chance where he injured Ricky and that stopped Ricky from out boxing him comfortably. I know you have had your biggest individual successes with Ricky because you were his head coach but I really don't think that putting down Scott's achievements (ones you were proud to be part of) is really doing you any favours. I know you are happy to have worked with Scott during these times and you had input during these training camps to help Scott achieve what he has and you never get the praise you probably deserve, don't make it look like you are bitter about the 2 boxers careers and how others view either boxers overall achievements!! Scott will have his fans who will say he's better, Ricky will have his supporters that think he is better!! But as a fan of both i'm just happy that we have had 2 fighters during my time that put Scottish boxing on the map and kept the buzz up here!! Just remember your good times with both of these Scottish World Champions and look to the future where you might well have more champions that can add to these memories!!
