Del Valle was a decent fighter, and a highly ranked LHW. I think DM missed him too, along with most of the other top 10 rated fighters at the weight. Much of DM's competition at the weight was even worse than Roy's.

 

Didn't RJ beat the man that beat Darius? After Darius lost to Julio Cesar Gonzalez in his own backyard, demand for the fight wasn't as much. Tho I will say the Gonzalez-Michaelchewski fight was a good one.

 

I have never claimed Roy was lineal champion. I said he was the man at LHW, and I stand by that.

The lineal champ is not always the man at the weight, Cotto at MW is a good example of lineal champ but clearly not the man.

A lot of the stuff I post is from memory at the time.. I seem to remember Roy calling out Virgil Hill before he actually moved up to LHW.. I think I got that confused with the Griffin fight delaying the Jones-Hill showdown. I do stand corrected though, he would have fought DM regardless.
