"Put simply, there are two sorts of boxer: those with glass jaws, and those with granite chins. If youve got a glass jaw, you go down easily and cant take a big punch. If youve got a granite chin, like I have, youre immovable. It doesnt matter how skilled you are, or how hard you train, if you arent tough enough, you wont win. Its the reason a lot of fighters who have success at the Olympics cant replicate it when they go pro they just arent tough enough. "The only person thats ever knocked me out is my anaesthetist. George Groves certainly couldnt, and I showed the world that he falls squarely into the glass jaw category." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/acti...u-before-you-become-a-professional-boxer.html (courtesy of poster Rockinghorse**** on another forum)
Yeah, he's been put down a couple of times, but until he's been totally sparked, it may be premature to describe him as glass-jawed. I suspect he is, though.
Froch got knocked down by Groves of all people, he isn't in a place to speak... GGG would shatter his jaw within 5. I hate the terms glass jaw and granite chin but Froch certainly doesn't have the latter.
I think Froch's chin is declining, and he should retire soon lest he damages his granite jaw reputation. I know Taylor floored him back in the day, but it was a flash knock down, and he didn't seem hurt at all. Froch has had a long career now, and at most, you can mention the Taylor knock-down, Dirrell momentarily wobbling him and Groves knocking him down and putting him on ***** Street (which he did recover from very quickly, albeit he was fortunate that occurred right at the end of the round). Overall, I would say that is pretty good going.
Froch is absolutely correct, and I would go further. Most fighters have glass jaws of one degree or another.:deal
lol Froch he talks like one of the chincheckers but he's delusional, his chin is very good but people with legit granite jaws never visit the canvas, like he does Chavez Jr, GGG, Rios, those are granite chins Froch might be somewhere around marble and hard oak level
Well Froch has fought a far higher level of competition than they have. Aside from Martinez whose hand was broken and Manny who's not a monster puncher at 147.
Martinez broke his hand because of Chavez' iron head:deal Manny still has very good power at 147, and he himself said Rios is the toughest opponent (in terms of punch resistance) he's ever fought, and it showed, keep in mind both Rios and Chavez have no defense, they get hit a lot by everyone, yet they've never been close to being hurt THAT is the definition of granite jaw
