Mentions that a fight was discussed between both camps.

Bowe was going to take on Foreman (and not face Lewis)

This was obviously before the trashcan stunt. But this article 100% confirms to me Bowe ducked Lewis, i wasnt convinced before, but i am now.

The article mentions that Newman/Bowe already had plans by not facing Lewis and opting for Foreman instead

Good article. Never read that before. Proves Newman couldn't steer Bowe in the right direction.

Bowe had no intention of ever facing Lewis. They had already decided in advance that they needed to get out of a fight with Lewis and then he never fought Foreman either

Do you mean that after the trash can incident, you had any serious doubt that Bowe didn’t want to fight Lewis?????????????

After the Olympics, Bowe went to bed every night knowing that Lewis beat him!

In Tysons book it mentions Bowe dumping the belt in the trash can because he refused to pay sanctioning fees and dumped the belt to say screw you, but this article pretty much confirms that Bowe ducked Lewis 100%.

Also his body language in their scuffle after one of the fights shows me Bowe was scared.

Bowe to Lewis 'You're not the man i thought you were, i thought we were cool, Razor Ruddock was just afraid of you'

To me that translates 'I thought we were friends, please dont kick my ass'

Rock Newmann just wanted to make some easy money after Bowe winning the title.
I've never seen what's so wrong with this ?

I mean, I've said it before, I can't think of a champion in heavyweight history who has gone from beating a champion as decent as Holyfield in a tough fight STRAIGHT INTO a first defence against a challenger as formidable as Lewis.
I cannot think of a manager who would do that to their fighter.
Actually, if Newman had sent Bowe in with Lewis for May 1993 - and lost - you'd all be saying how badly handled Bowe was ! :deal

Also, Newman did have a long-running feud with the WBC and Don King, that had nothing to do with Lewis.

I'm not saying Newman and Bowe weren't as$holes, but they get undue criticism for the "Lewis duck". There's simply no precedent for heavyweight champions taking on their toughest challenger so soon after a tough title-winning fight.
