David Lemieux is a 26 year old 5'10 Middleweight with a 35-3 31 KO's 2 KO Loss record. David is half French and half Lebanese-Armenian (Eastern European:D) born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. An argument could be made that David is still a prospect, because as he says he's still learning, and he is still a work in progress. Lemieux was wreaking havoc through Montreal and was considered a top prospect stopping all but 1 opponent in his first 25, until he came face to face with grizzled veteran Marco Antonio Rubio who handed him his first loss at the ripe age of 22 and to make matters worse he lost his follow up match to Alcine by MD, at that point he was promptly written by many boxing pundits and fans alike, but personally I think that was a little quick to throw away such a green inexperienced kid at such a young age.

His handlers made a terrible miscalculation in putting him in with Rubio when they did, Rubio was coming off of a stoppage against Pavlik and they thought Rubio was ripe for the picking, but Rubio's corner stopped the fight not because he was hurt but because they were sick of seeing Rubio take so much punishment and not go down like almost everyone Pavlik had faced before, so what happens far too often in boxing they took that loss as evidence that Rubio was shot and figured David could add Marco's name to his resume, but Marco was just wily and tough enough to let David wear himself down without absorbing too much damage, and stop the young lion when he was tired and with a punch behind his left ear which put David down affecting his balance then a few seconds later his corner stopped the fight. His confidence shattered he fought Alcine next, with his head not in it, he fought more conservatively letting another veteran get the upper hand and beat him by MD.

But I choose to be an optimist about Lemieux his style is far too hardcore, fun, and exciting to write him off just yet, he seems to finally have his head straight and IMO can still be a force to be reckoned with in the division, he dispatched Fernando Guerrero in brutal fashion far easier and far quicker than Quillin could, proving he's got the goods to compete with most in the division not named GGG. He could even be a force at JMW which I think he could make easily.
He's very good looking and with the right marketing and promotion and put against the right opposition he can eventually become a huge star in the sport. What fan wouldn't want to see Lemieux face Kirkland, Canelo, Stevens, Rosado, and maybe even Cotto they would be very exciting all action fights. So give the flawed but damn good Lemieux another chance he deserves it. 29 KO's in 33 fights with hopefully many more to come.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

He is a fun boxer to watch, and also also believe he's continuing to develop. Apparently he's matured somewhat and the indifference towards training for which he had been criticised is a thing of the past (possibly the losses did him some favours in the long run).

However, he still needs to demonstrate that he can hang in there with the higher reaches of the division - for whatever reason he's been inactive this year (though the blasting out of the -admittedly somewhat chinny - Guerrero was impressive) and I hope he starts to pick up the pace, and the quality of his opposition in 2015.

The "second coming" seems to have stalled though. :-(
Why is he not fighting frequently.
He is wasting the prime years of his career through chronic INACTIVITY! :patsch

    I like Lemieux a lot

He’s definitely an extremely exciting fighter to watch… I don’t know if there’s another boxer in the world who completely sells out on every power shot the way Lemieux does. It’s hard to say how well that style is gonna work against opponents who are more durable than most opponents he has faced, but Lemieux seems like a tough night at the office for anybody at 160, honestly. He’s an interesting wild card player to add into the intriguing mix of guys at 160.

You do realize that I explained those losses in the initial post and this thread is to remind people why Lemieux was so exciting, no accentuate the negative, if you want to see Lemieux being beaten by Rubio look at my Rubio thread. Not trying to hide it but that would be contradictory to the goals of this thread.

Also get over it he was 22:patsch
