Muhammad Ali’s Parkinson’s disease has advanced to the point he can barely speak or leave his Arizona home, according to a member of his family.

The legendary boxer, 72, was too ill to attend the premiere of a film about his life last week — or to take part in any of the production for it.

“I have not been able to talk to my brother about this because he is sick,” Rahman, 71, told the Sunday People at a screening of I Am Ali in Hollywood.
“He doesn’t speak too well. But he is proud that we are here for him. He has given this film his blessing.”

In January, Ali’s son, Muhammad Ali Jr, said there was “no chance” his father would last the year. “I just want, hope and pray to God that this awful disease takes my dad sooner rather than later,” he said.

Such a tragedy, living 30 years with Parkinson

Hope he will be some kind healthy (in any way it's possible) during his last days.

    So sad.

I get the feeling that Ali's not going to be with us much longer.

To any fan of boxing or Ali, i recommend them watching the new documentary just released about him 'I AM ALI'. A very personal look at what made him such a great man inside and outside the ring.

Whether his physical self passes on, his spiritual self and aura will live on for many generations to follow.

I don't think it will be a horrible day at all when he passes. Any time a human who's lived a full life is able to not suffer any more from human sickness, I think death is like a graduation to where he won't have to suffer anymore. To continue to suffer on this earth is what's horrible.

    Ali himself once said.

Dont ever feel sorry for me, i dont. If i hadnt taken up boxing, id have been a sign painter just like my dad.

Exactly. Everyone has to go one day, and if its not a premature death and the man won't suffer any longer after he dies, I don't understand what the sadness is about. The real sadness is watching him stay alive and suffer.

This is a wonderful speech by Ali and there's even wisdom to be had from it even if you're non religious. In the end, Ali just wanted to do good and help his fellow man and woman no matter what race, religion, colour or creed they were.

This should give anyone half sane to comprehend a glimpse of how strong willed this man really is.
