The Brewster fight was a case of Wlad fighting stupidly he threw a terrific number of shots for a heavyweight and ran out of steam. But he put the record straight in the rematch.

His dominance since then has been outstanding.

Wlad is a dominant multiple time world champion.

Tokyo Douglas was a man who for one night fought the fight of his life and made history whilst at the same time showing a form of blueprint in how to handle Tyson. He was probably the first person to stand up to him. Other than that his career was decent but not HOF worthy.

 

When Brewster was retired and coming off a loss?

In that case Helenius dealt with Peter a lot easier than Wlad could.

Hilenius had no problems at all with Peter. He boxed him side ways without a single foul or clinch.

How come Peter got battered worse by Hilenius than he did by Wlad. Isn't Wlad meant to be better?

Obviously not since Peter gave Wlad far more trouble than he gave helenius

 

You really believe Shufford and Nate Tubbs are better than Wlad? If not, you really don't have much of a point.

Who said that? Please dont make things up. The point is guys who bear Wlad lost to guys you wouldnt dream of Tyson losing to. The point is if a Brewster or Sanders beats Wlad its easy to envision Tyson taking him out. Point is Douglas was a far better fighter than either of those guys. And lastly, aits matter of styles. Wlad doesnt like being backed up and cant take it...hes going to be hit. Prime from prime talk leaves to much to speculate. Peak for peak i think Tyson is the far better fighter. Thats not a put down, but my own assessment having been involved in this sport and watching it for 35 years.

 

And the man who beat Tyson lost to guys you wouldn't dream of a prime Wlad losing to. It's not much of a point.

But on the flipside, people can see Wlad emulating Tucker(first few rounds), Holyfield, and Douglas' game plan of timing Mike when he comes in and not allowing him to get off on the inside.

I disagree. I think Douglas, Brewster, and Sanders are on the level. All kind of erratic fringe/journeyman types with great attributes they only brought together a handful of times or less.

And in my years, I don't see a huge gulf between Wlad and Tyson and see this as a 50/50 fight. I think both have the potentional to neaturalize the other.

 

How can you say Mike has the perfect style for Wlad?? A 6'6 245 lb heavyweight with an ATG jab, good power in both fists, and who likes to clinch a lot? How did Mike do against lesser fighters with similar styles/physical measureables? Bonecrusher Smith, Mitch Green, Tony Tucker, Buster Douglas, Razor Ruddock....They are all larger heavyweights that Mike could KO or in one case beat.
Try to remember the Mike Tyson in historical past, not the one in your imagination.

Despite the fact that Mike could rarely stop a bigger fighter who could box A LITTLE, he wins by KO1.

It doesn't matter that Wlad is better than him in SO many ways.
