I just don't see Khan/Pac/Garcia/Cotto beating Mayweather though.

A Hopkins or a Gavin I dunno.. I'd like to see that.

 

It's a very good card for C5 this. Oct 25th the same night as Hearn's Hull card.

But you have a very good LHW contest between unbeaten top 10 fighters Liedenburg and Alvarez. Hall-Caballero. A minimum weight world title (which i know **** all about) and also Nick Blackwell vs Khimitsky. Very good that overall.

 

Murray has a bigger beef for getting robbed against Sturm than Macklin does, imo.
I also think that Murray beat Sergio Martinez.
Let's not act like Murray is an avoided fighter when he could've had another title shot vs GGG when was the WBA mandatory.

 

I agree- it's odd with Channel Five, they seem to get good ratings for the boxing but then never crack on with their coverage.

Bit of a worry for Boxnation that they didn't/were outbid fir this card.

 

Strongly disagree tbh, I can see an argument for him getting the decision vs Martinez, close fight which could of gone either way. But imo Sturm clearly beat him (had it 116-112), and Murray was very lucky to get a draw. Where as Macklin probably should of got the nod vs Sturm, but the fight was close and tbh overstated as a robbery, Macklin was a bit unlucky but that's it.

Apparently that's exactly what the case is. I can't remember where I heard/saw the quote, but I remember something quoted from Murray like: 'this deal guarantees me enough money to retire on'.
I think fighters on those Monaco cards generally get quite well paid, and this is Murray's 2nd fight in a row there and he's likely to be in a World title fight of some kind soon, so I could see him getting decent money. Even if it is at the expense of being forgotten about back in Britain.

 

Turning down the GGG fight to fight relatively unknown guys definitely doesnt help.

 

I thought Mack was lucky to finish the Sturm fight on his feet.

 

I remember watching a fight of his recently in a casino with about 8 people there, weird atmosphere

 

He lost and was gassing the last round but was still only one of twelve rounds, he had won enough (majority) of the previous rounds

 

He was, Sturm battered him in the last round. But as the poster above mentions, that was just one round, and one round which was very different from the rest of the fight.

 

I watched both fights on youtube back to back on multiple occasions.
Every time Murray fights the better fight to me.

 

I agree, I'm a big fan of him, but with the lack of exposure and having to stream his fights on crappy quality streams it's hard to remain excited, same with the opposition he's facing now.
Understandable he had visa and promoter difficulties, but not sure this was the best route for him to go down. Hopefully it will prove to be and we'll start to see more of him soon though.

 

And I beleived turned down an offer to fight GGG in Monaco.
