he by passed the light welter division altogether but if the chance had come ??? I didn't like Duran in his prime for punching king ken Buchanan in his nuts and was briefly made up when yearns wiped him out, but........the man was a marvel and his technical skills were sublime.
Amazing fighter, one of the very best ever. But not at light welterweight, because he never fought there. In fact he lost to a very good light welterweight.
I am in no way disputing Duran's greatness. I'm disputing him being a great light welterweight. Although he very well would've been had he fought there, but he never made the fight with Cervantes.
" Hearns beating Cuevas like he did, and Leonard beating Duran like he did in their rematch " Is EXACTLY what you wrote. I wrote that there was NO COMPARISON between the 2. You then waffled on for a few paragraphs about nothing really in reply.:roll:
As has been said times before, Duran was the best but not at the time of fighting the Fab 4. He was a killer at lightweight and moved up, so he was most past his prime and still held his own, with a fantastic win over Hearns. I'd say its between Hagler and Hearns being worst.
Do you usually use 100 words when 10 would suffice? The fact you mentioned the 2 totally different fights in the SAME sentence implies comparison. Learn more about the English written word. Now off you go, like a good boy.
