I don't think that a multi million dollar celebrity needed to rely on the bonds of matrimony to get laid. :good

Furthermore Lewis didn't care about belts. He stuck to his guns and refused to get into bed with that other **** kunt king. So it applied pressure to its arse wipes, Mendoza and Suilemaine to strip him. But the pimp never got a penny directly from Lewis's earnings.

But in the end, each is the only other extraordinary heavyweight of the era, so both of them are going to suffer no matter who gets what belt.

If Vitali carries on, he gets greater, but his brother is naturally diminished. The same balance that has existed between Pacquiao and Mayweather for so long.

    Agreed.

There were advantages and disadvantages to having the dynasty that they shared. An obvious advantage was that neither man had to face the best fighter of his era due to the reasoning that they were brothers. Another advantage is that they worked together at avenging the other's defeats or eliminating contenders that were less than palatable to the other's comfort zone. The disadvantage was that neither man will ever hold the claim of having " True dominance" due to the other's presence. Of course if Wlad survives a bit longer in the absence of his brother, he may get to enjoy some credit for having undisputed lineage.

You rule out the possibility of a draw then?:think

Seriously I think Lewis was getting into the fight, he came in smug undertrained and complacent, but he still pulled out the win.

For a guy accused of having a shaky chin he weathered Vitali's shots pretty well imo.

He may well have won on points had it not been for the cuts.

It needs to be remembered, however, that Lennox was starting to come into the fight a lot more,so he could have caught up with Vitali on the cards. Maybe.

Vitalli may well have beaten lewis in the rematch. Not necessarily because he was the better fighter but because he was hungrier, whereas lewis had lost the desire and motivation.
Lewis retired with his faculty's intact and more than enough money to secure his future. I for one don't blame him

One thing that needs to be remembered about a rematch is that the cut may have opened again. It may have been a factor in the proposed second fight too.

In any event, I do agree that it's a great shame we never saw a rematch.

Its an even greater shame that the initial fight didn't happen during Lewis's prime, which if it had, no rematch would be necessary ;)

One point that is overlooked regarding a rematch is how long would the second fight go before Lewis reopened those cuts again and the same result occurs?

What if Vitali hadn't gotten injured and forced to retire after fighting Danny Williams?

I stand by my comments because they were verified by V.K. himself.

BTW, I've been in discussions on this topic for a good 10 years and at the end of the day, the result is always the same. Lewis TKO 6. End of story.

The rest is pure speculation and if it helps you deal with the real outcome, which is that when they actually fought, Lewis won, well then feel free to live in your little fantasy world, but don't confuse facts with speculation.
