Until one of them messes up and cuts Walters days before a fight... I do like the defensive focus, though.
What does that have to do with anything? I don't think wildly swinging hooks to the face with mitts is smart...
I prefer working the mitts to sharpen my punches and specifically on the inside. Practicing keeping the punches tight... Practicing wild swings, distant shots, and lunging type shots is for the heavy bag, in my opinion. As for the defensive benefits, kinda pointless. Just spar and you can learn and train ten fold about your defense (or your partners' offense).
Actually, it's not pointless at all. And you can get cut in sparring, too. Sounds to me like you're just scared your boy is in for an ass whooping.
I've already seen Donaire get an ass whooping of semi-epic proportion. I don't get that emotional over fighters that I like losing.
What in actual f.uck is going on there, it's completely ******ed! trainer is asking to catch one on the jaw, fighter almost got elbowed to the face a few hundred times..W T Fatsch
That looks scary. I have a feeling this will be the first boxer to ever get koed while working the mitts. Say what you want to say about Mayweather, but whatever he has been doing, seems to be working.
Have you seen such sloppy mitt work on behalf of the trainer in a media session or training video from a titlist? I don't believe I ever have.
I like it. Walters looks very stationary and stiff though (which is partly to blame to the mitt-man). Now that's nice if you're fighting a punchbag, but otherwise..
