I loved watching Ibeabuchi fight, but he was one of the most overrated fighters on boxing forums. His wins against Tua and Byrd were good wins, but both had limitations. And while wlads chin is always cause for concern i'd expect both Klits to sit behind their long jabs and control the action from there and frustrate Ike. Byrd couldnt hurt him and Tua had no choice but to come inside to fight him. This wouldnt happen here and i could see Ibeabuchi get monumentally frustrated by it. Going by his mental issues outside the ring im not sure he'd be able to overcome this in the ring.

Ike beat Tua and Byrd under 20 fights and you say he's overrated. This is coming from a guy that thinks Hatton is a hall fame worthy.

He probably wouldn't beat either one. He would give up at least 10cm in both height and reach, plus he didn't have the skills nor defense to compete with the brothers at their best. Trying to stop punches with your face isn't a good gameplan.

I never said he wasnt a good fighter, and he certainly had potential. But lets not ct like Byrda nd tua hadb eaten more than a few fringe contenders each. To be comparing him in his fledgling career to the much more experienced and proven klits is overrating him, plain and simple.

And do you really want tor rehash Hatton and the HOF again? Its the hall of fame, not the hall of greatness. If you thing differently than whya re Gatti, McGuigan, Laszlo Papp and others in? :deal

Ike was fight fans dream. Ibeabuchi had the rare ability to throw with power, and still not find himself depleted of energy in the later rounds. I can't think of too many guys, especially today. That have the power or chin, to go punch for punch with a young David Tua. I understand any fighter could have one good fight, but what he showed that night is all I need to see.

Against either Klitschko I would favor him. Against Vitali, I see a war of attrition. If Ike can fight like he did against Tua, I see him stopping Vitali late in a close fight. Against Wlad, If he comes out guns blazzing. Look for Wlad to try to clinch his way out of trouble early, similar to how he looked against Peter in the there first fight. Unlike Peter, Ike is more technically sound and throws straighter punches and more crisper hooks. Which should be enough to take Wlad out early.

Ike had that special something, too bad his demons got the best of him.

Why because he narrowly beat a guy who was short and came right to him or because he caught Byrd with a good shot? We dont know how he would have donea against bigger, more proven fighters who's goal would be to keep him on the outside with longer jabs. And given his mental make up up not hard to imagine him becoming frustrated by this.

I'm not to high up on guys who didn't go on with their careers, obviously in this case not by choice. Who knows what would have happened if he didn't go to jail, but that still leaves him unproven. As far as what I can tell was that he had a good chin and power, but not much else. Most people rate him because his fight with a non-champion Tua.

Tua never had the skills to become a champion. Lewis kept Tua at the tail end of his jab with ease; Tua never touched him, but was able to get in there with Ibeabuchi. I think this just shows the huge skill differential between Ibeabuchi and other large men who knew how to use their reach. The Klitscho's are much more defensive than Lewis, so I think don't think Ibeabuchi would have landed.

Byrd was taking Ike's shots well but he got too cute on the ropes and got caught ducking right into that uppercut at a really bad angle.

Ike may be a great puncher or may not have been.

It would be like Rahman retiring after knocking Lewis out, you would think he was a murderous puncher. You would favor him to take out Barrett, Ruiz, an old Holyfield, an older Oleg, or at least drop a guy like Meehan. Instead he never replicated that type of killer punch again.

Agreed. I dont doubt Ike had good power, but it gets overrated. Besides Byrd his knockouts came against overmatched fighters. No one can say how he would match up against experienced and proven fighters. He looked great against lower tier guys and had two good wins against other up and coming prospects. Thats just not enough to say he beats a Klit or any other proven fighter in my opinion.

Being in the HW equivalent of Gatti/Ward doesn't mean you have the SKILLS to hang with a boxer of Wladimir's caliber.

Vitali would outbox him with ease as well.

Most of the people on Ike's dick have only seen one slugfest with him and a KO of Byrd.

The Byrd stoppage was one of the worst I've ever seen. Byrd was taking him to school for most of the fight.

Based on watching his fights I'd say both bros beat the living **** out of him. He was slow, flatfooted and had poor defense.

Byrd didn't know where he was you fool. He was out of it. He was being systematically broken down round after round.

He spent the 5 rounds running and he didn't even make it to the halfway point.

He was never in that fight. Ike raped him. Wlad would get his glass jaw shattered in less time it took to dispatch Byrd.
