ggg, never mentions wards name right!! was tony madigan a better pro boxer than ali then? see the ****ing analogy!!
I think having an Olympic Gold Medal trumps having more career wins. Also, dominating the best fighters in his division does the same thing for the pros Ward is pretty damn safely ahead of GGG in both Ams and Pros

"He didn't have to compete in the first round of the tournament because he won the 2nd place on the American 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament." This may seem a stupid question but if he only finished 2nd place on the American 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament wouldn't he have lost some fights? Like, if he was undefeated, he'd be 1st place wouldn't he?
Ward did beat a host of quality amateurs to win his Olympic gold medal. However, Virgil Hunter said he deliberately chose not to let him go to any ''international tournaments/European duel meets'' because he didn't want anyone to see a tape of him so they could ''figure out his style'' in advance. 2:18 mark [YT]cyOaIbSTsV0[/YT] Also, his semi-final encounter against the Uzbekistani Haydarov was extremely close. Ward won by 2 points but to be perfectly frank he should've incurred multiple point deductions for his excessive holding. Look at him shamelessly holding on like a limpet literally only seconds into the bout. It's tied at 13 points a piece going into the final stanza, but look at what Ward proceeds to do in that round - he spends an outrageous amount of time holding onto Haydrov like a limpet again to prevent him from working and then he manages to sneaks a couple of points towards the end to steal a win. I don't know or care who the better amateur was, and I don't think Ward's more skilled because he won gold... I think he's more skilled because he is more skilled. :deal
