Let's all stop acting like beating GR Jr is some huge amazing accomplishment. It definitely shows something special, but that was proven when he won the second gold medal... GR Jr was a joke Meanwhile, a much more proven and yet clearly journeyman status guy like Salido gave Lomo a pretty good trouncing... Baring of course in mind that Salido is no where near as skill, as big, or as powerful as Walters If he pulled it off, it would be amazing. I wouldn't bet on it
You have to put things into context and look at all the factors, I don't think Salido fight is an indication of Lomachenko's level there were many "other" reasons why I think he lost the fight.
Still, his best victory up to now is GR Jr, which doesn't prove anything I saw him get out Pro'd in that fight... He couldn't handle the constant pressure despite being a superior athlete and a FAR superior technician. He couldn't handle the dirtiness in there, but that's the pro's for you, homie... That **** happens... What other context did I miss?
And is Walters a dirty pressure fighter like Salido who's going to fight that inexperienced version of Lomachenko? I don't think that the reasons Lomachenko lost to Salido would apply in the fight against Walters just my opinion.
Salido came in almost two weight classes, I believe, for the Lomachenko fight - and he still very nearly lost even with an enormous weight advantage.
What f*cking fight were you watching? Salido landed maybe one solid head shot the whole fight!, and most of his more substantial body shots were low. Was Lomo ever in trouble or even hurt? Get real, man. Lomo landed more solid punches in Rd 12 than Salido did all fight and had the Mexican ready to go. Lomo lost the fight because he gave away 3-4 rounds due to inactivity to preserve energy.
Be interesting to see. Walter's footwork is still crude, and a little uncoordinated, but it is improving little by little in each fight. He is at least Lomochenko's size also. And puts out a long jab. For all his amateur boxing pedigree, I wasn't impressed with Loma's inability to step around, or pivot Salido. If he couldn't keep Salido off of him, how is he going to keep a younger fresher, longer guy off?
Salido bull rushed the kid; Walters fights off his jab. Two TOTALLY different approaches. Lomo was also coached to tie up Salido, rather than use his feet. That was a HUGE tactical error by his team. They won't make the same mistake again.
He can apply pressure I've seen, plus he uses a good jab and better defense than Salido. He's also naturally bigger than Loma... Then there's the power.
That's just a small part of it. The only advantage weight would have in a fight like that is that the superior athlete and technician may not have the strength to push the guy back. An athlete and technician like Loma should have been able to outbox a "bigger" journeyman any day of the week assuming he has the pro experience to do it, which he didn't
Says the guy who thinks Salido "trounced" Lomo. :rofl So enlighten me. What did I say that was incorrect?
Walters is certainly a force to be reckoned with of course he's not as polished as lomo but once they step in that squared circle I would imagine Walters would not be a walk in the park. In my humble opinion Walters takes this fight with his long underrated jab and overall tenacity not to mention he has a little pop in those punches.
Lomachenko wins every round. Walters seems to have a good chin but how does he handle body shots? That's the only question about this fight, points or stoppage for Lomachenko. I hope they make it next.
Combination of patience, excellent jab, sensational power, timing, fights better on the inside than Loma, I like Walters chances. Loma is a great technician, flashier, great footwork, faster hands, but Walters is such a great textbook fighter. Reminds me abit of Arguello. Walters looks like a lightweight and Loma a superfeatherweight. Loma vs The Axeman is a classic in the making.
