    Very mature.
You know as well as I do that the "shite" is the failure to discuss what happened. One of our star boxers gets both his legs broken by his own cousins.....and....nothing. Not a dicky bird! On a boxing forum!

We all know that if this was to happen to Rory McIlroy or Brian O'Driscoll we would be hearing about it night and day. Every paper, radio station, you name it...would be all over it like a rash.

Aha yes ...the good old Irish solution to every problem...turn a blind eye.

Good man Mossey. You must be so proud. :dead

Strange analogy as both O'Driscoll and McIlroy are Irish. The fact is that Nevin is almost ignored in the popular media, two World bronze medals, a Euro gold and Olympic Silver and not a dickey bird. He may be our best ever Amature-I think he is-which should make him an all-time top ten Irish sportsperson, up there with Rory and Brian as well as Keane, McGrath, Ring, Sonia, Katy, O'Callaghan, Harrington, McCoy, O'Brien etc. He just made his comeback, a devastating one round KO over a no-body, and no-body raised a whisper here on ESB.

I too am surprised at the lack of response to his comeback success - both here on ESB and in the mainstream media...but to come back to my earlier point , the only difference between him and the other Giants of Irish sport, is the dreaded t-word, and his involvement in a traveller (albeit as seemingly a innocent victim of a savage assault) feud really is the icing on the cake. That's sorta stuff is nuclear wAste/ Ebola virus to the mainstream establishment media here.

You forget that boxing is mostly ignored by Irish media unless their on the bandwagon of a champ, and when they do ,our champ usually doesn't reign for too long , pretty sure the big wigs see that as a lost investment from a business standpoint. Irish media is a joke lately,
Rte didn't even report on the march in Dublin last wk FFS.
Most of the ****s in rte don't even know he's a traveller only that he's a boxer,
Maybe boxing is the taboo word in Donnybrook.
You brought Nevin up and had a poke at him trying to be funny and as usuall
You come across as a muppet, stop with you're "witty sarcasm "
As it ruins you're knowledgeable posts about boxing when not discussing Andy Lee.

This is controversial but in some ways I think Lee has a better chance of winning in Vegas than in Ireland. He is more likely to think and less likely to brawl when he is the away fighter. I also think Korobovs best chance is in the first 4 rounds. If Korobov can get an early round knock down in rounds 1-4 I think he might stop Lee.

The problem for Korobov is that Lee is much fitter now under Booth and his stamina is much improved. Lee would also have the mental strength to come back from a late round knock down. And the longer the fight goes on I think the more Lee tends to come on. I find it interesting that under Stewart Lee was impressive early on then used to fade somewhat.
Where as with Booth he seems a little shakey early on then settles in a bit better.
Korobov is going to try and blast Lee out which should make this interesting. Not sure how Korobovs chin is either but physically I think Korobov will be stronger in the early rounds. Lee's experience may also be a factor and I need too see how much Korobov has facing southpaws.
I think its a 50/50 but anything goes.

JOHN JOE NEVIN KO’d Calvin Stifford in the first round in the early hours of this morning in North Carolina.
The North Carolina native, who was making his pro debut, was counted out inside the first 90 seconds at the Ring of Dreams venue.
Nevin, who is signed with Tom Moran’s GreenBlood stable in Philadelphia, had his two legs broken in an horrific assault near his home in Mullingar last April.
But the London 2012 silver medallist bounced back in spectacular style in the Old North State after taking Stifford clean out after detonating a right hook inside the opening two minutes.
The former AIBA World No. 1 bantamweight, who won on his pro debut in Boston last March, improves to two wins from two after the win.
“It’s great be back. People may not understand how much this means to me, I was looking forward to this so much,” he said.
Irish light welter and light-heavy Tyrone McKenna and Ray Ginley, both from Belfast, completed a GreenBlood hat-trick – and extended their unbeaten runs to to 5-0 and 6-0 – after recording second round stoppages of Anthony Dave and Quincy Minor.
“Delighted with that, and I hope to have another fight, or maybe two, before Christmas, “ said McKenna.
Ginley bounced back from being out with shoulder injury to stop Minor.
“It’s been almost a year to the day since I picked up that injury and I hope to have another two fights before Christmas,” he said.
