I agree with you completely. His resume if full of the slow, wide shot throwing plodders. The only time he has fought anyone with any kind of hand speed was Judah and a past prime Mosley, one of which scored an unofficial knockdown and the other rocked him to his boots.

Problem is, the gullible casual fan does not look at or care about this. It is the casual fan that makes him the money. We can sit here and argue about how he is ducking this guy or he is avoiding this kind of fighter, but fact remains he keeps pulling in high numbers. Even his low numbers are practically double what other PPV stars are pulling in. Look at his numbers compared to Cotto/Martinez or Canelo/Lara. Even his numbers from his fight with Guerrero beats those numbers.

I'm no fan boy by any means, just stating facts. This trend will never change unless his numbers take a huge hit, but as long as the casual fan keeps buying his fights, he will continue to face the same fighters.

 

Stick to a different sport

 

Late last week the Rahman bros. had filed a lawsuit against Floyd Mayweather, TMT and Showtime. The suit alleges that the brothers were forced to engage in dangerous extended sparring sessions under Floyds supervision at his gym.

This allegation stands in direct contrast to Mayweather’s assertion, in a hearing with the NSAC that the scene regarding the so-called “fight to the death” sparring was fabricated for dramatic effect for the Showtime, All Access cameras.

Who’s telling the truth will be easy to find. The court simply has to subpoena Showtime to release the full, unedited film from the episode in question. If Mayweather told the truth to the commission, the lawsuit will die a quick death. If, however, Mayweather was lying then he and Showtime are in for a huge problem.

If Mayweather is proven to be dishonest then the commission will re-open their case on the issue and take action. That action could cost his promoter’s license and his permit to own and manage a professional boxing gym. Both losses would hit Mayweather hard as he enters in the last year of his career.

All of this, of course, is without taking into consideration the monetary amount that would be awarded to the Rahman Brothers should they win the legal battle.

The likeliest of all outcomes, however, is that Mayweather will simply settle out of court and have his lawyers keep the brothers silent via gag order. Innocent or guilty, this seems like Mayweather’s best bet for a quick, efficient end to the bad publicity.
