What is the general consensus on Jack Dempsey in 1926-27?

Because several times over the past, particularly when he first started posting here, he got tripped up in his stories about what he had seen and what he had done. One prime example is his continued insistance that he saw a SRR fight which never happened. This is just one example among many others that have fallen by the wayside but how this story got started was that "Burt" was trying to pretend he had seen this fight as an example, like he always does, of having been alive at the time. He was initially talking about THE Robinson-Dykes fight that actually happened. Another poster quickly pointed out that his dates, venue, etc didnt match. Burt was busted. So what does he do? He pretends the fight he was talking about was actually a second fight that history has never recorded. Anther example was the time he was trying to say his dad drove Greb and Olive Thomas around in his cab. Burt was very specific about when this took place and even mentioned when his dad started driving a cab. The problem was that Olive Thomas was dead by the time his dad started driving his cab and the only thing linking Greb to Thomas is James Fair's fictionalized account of Greb's life. Other posters who live in New York have called into question some of his claims about where certain buildings are/were/directions etc. Nevermind the fact that he ages one year for every 3 years in real time. Ive never seen a guy who stayed in his early eighties for as long as Burt. Then there is the fact that dispite Burt having been at all of these fights over the past 70 years his details are relatively sparse and come word for word from media like Ring and books etc. No real first hand details. Kind of like the Greb Thomas thing he evented out of what he thought was a half truth. Then there is the fact that Burt once posted his photo online which was tied to a fake facebook account but a google image search matched it with another individual. He is just like a guy who used to post around by the name of $Bill who claimed to 90+ year old man who had known and seen Greb fight. Unfortunately not a single detail he regurgitated ever gelled with the actual first hand accounts. And like Burt he was often caught in the web of his own lies. I mean ask yourself, when you are giving credit to Burt for his first hand knowledge and hanging on his every word, outside of the lies he has been caught in, when he is telling a story about a fight he went to etc has he ever really told you anything new or anything you havent already heard or read before? I cant think of a single instance and Ive been watching him post his drivel for years. Circumstantial I know but the guy has never once passed the smell test for me.

 

So, to cut a long story short, you have absolutely NO proof, that Burt isn't a man in his 80s (as he claims to be)... thanks, that was all I wanted to know.

 

Ultimately you believe what you want to believe about any anonymous person on a forum. But a guy who constantly spouts bull**** and who has posted fake photos of himself and has been 84 for nearly a decade is not someone I call credible. If you choose to believe thats your perogitive, you asked me a question and I answered.

When I was young in the 1940s people respected senior citizens, for it is not fun to grow older...Old age is not for sissies as the saying goes, but
for this vile person K to attack me unfairly from out of the blue ,but not take me up on my offer to prove my age with a birth certificate, Navy discharge, drivers license and social security card, shows me the true nature of this person of whom I never did harm to. He apparently has a record of every post I made[ over [7000] and brings up such dirt that he claims I lied about. Well I swear on what I hold sacred that what I wrote
about was TOLD to me or I read about growing up...Everything posters you or I know about the past on boxing before our births, we have read from others, and if perchance it doesn't meet the egomaniac Klompton's

Whatever "Burt" Ive caught you lying far too many times to believe you are a senior citizen. How about posting another fake photo of yourself... Any explanation what that was all about?

I've been friends with burt for a long time now...off the forums..but always online...never met him in the flesh.....I have a friend seymour in his 80s who was a regular madison square garden boxing attendee in the 40s and 50s..burt tried really hard to meet up with him in new york...didnt happen though...but it would be strange for burt to go to lengths to do that if he wasnt who he says he is.

 

I should add I have also seen photos of burt from various years...40s to recent and all match to the age appearance he says he is.

you know I'm not one for disagreements on the forums much klompton..and especially with you fella ....but think you could be calling this one wrong..as detailed as you have put your point of view forward.

 

Burt, I know it's difficult... but I wouldn't worry too much about it! I'm pretty sure there's not a single poster (other than klompton, of course) here on Classic, who doubts that you are indeed a senior citizen. But since klompton brought this into question, he must of course stick to his story... because, as we all know, he must be right all the time!

 

If Im wrong Im wrong but Im not surprised Burt never met up with your friend and as I said, the one photo that he posted of himself that I know of belonged to someone else on google image search. Thats awfully suspicious given his other lapses.

Thats my opinion as I said Bukake, stop being butt hurt over the Kilbane film.

That was and is me and if I look much younger then my years, why it is a compliment..
The photo of me in my avater which we had a few years ago stands before me in a blue
jacket and blue shirt and tie was taken about 3 years ago not far from where I once met
Henry Hascupp at a funeral parlor...A great guy is he and so was the late great John Garfield who inhabited Stillman's gym the same time I did in the 1940s...
Tis a shame that you a terrific biographer of my dad's and my favorite fighter, have to come to this, that I an elderly gentleman {I'm told] have to prove my age, when I
would give the world to be young once again...Old age SUCKS...
