Chavez was 80 years old and had already been SCHOOLED by Taylor, Randall and Whitaker.

Pernell was a coke head who, in his previous fight, was down on the scorecards to Diosbelys Hurtado before scoring the KO. Despite that, he STILL made it a close fight with Ole' Fishnets. Whitaker *never* won another fight after losing to de la Hoya.

You de la Hoya jizz guzzlers only make yourselves look even more dumb by holding up the Chavez and Whitaker fights as some kind of noteworthy accomplishments on de la Hoya's part. THEY'RE NOT.

A good win over a HOF fighter who was clearly past his sell-by date..

Same applies to Oscar wins over Chavez and Whitaker.only difference is both were true ATG fighters.

If you don't give credit for Oscar for those fights, then also Floyd win over inactive past his prime coke using, drinking drag queen doesn't hold any value.and Oscar never win after that.quit on his stool against Pac and retired.

That's one of Floyd greatest wins

Ok, no argument from me. I still don't consider those wins as being better than Corrales' KO over Castillo. Not even close...

Chavez was 34 at the time of fight.96-1-1 and De La Hoya was first to stop Chavez.

Chavez wasn't at his best anymore, but still great win for Oscar.as Chavez was still winning before and after the fight.

Whitaker was 33 at the time of the fight 40-1-1.i'll give you that,Whitaker didn't win after and already had problems in his personal life.but still he was winning.

Both were past their primes, but they were not totally shot.they were winning until they crossed paths with Golden Boy.

And people just to happen value winning,as it had come clear with multiple Floyd threads.

And both happen to be true ATG fighters.something that Mayweather,Castillo,Corrales could only dreams having on their resumes.

Corrales and Castillo both started to losing after they fought against each others.

Corrales could be consider prime.and after Castillo win lost last 3fights.so was Corrales that great after all?in the rematch Castillo demolished Corrales.and Castillo was already little bit past his prime, and Corrales was lucky that night(win is a win still)

Corrales was good, but somewhat overrated.if we start from Floyd fight.her record was 7-5.borderline HOF material.

It was probably Corrales best win in his career, but atleast to me.nowhere the magnitude of Golden Boy wins over either Chavez or Whitaker.

And Castillo had already lost here and there before fighting Corrales.Castillo was stylistically bad match up for Floyd.other than that his best perfomance was maybe demolishing Corrales in rematch?

Both were great LW'S but are way too overrated.atleast to compared still practically undefeated Chavez and Whitaker.

Both fighters were still better than Castillo&Corrales in their primes.when they fought Floyd.

But opinions are of course different.and i respect that of course.

When Corrales beat Castillo he beat him in his *natural* weight class.

When de la Hoya beat Chavez and Whitaker, they were fighting TWO divisions above their natural weight class. de la Hoya has *never* beaten a great fighter *in* his natural weight class. Never.

Like I said, Corrales' KO over Castillo is better than any single win on de la Hoya's resume...

This would have some effect if Oscar won most of those fights that was posted, unfortunately that's not the case.

Ok, Einstein. Nice observation. Still doesn't negate the fact that he ducked the fights I noted previously.

    1 + 1 = 2
