I was being serious but very speculative, if groves is on the card he'll have to fight someone crap to avoid a loss thus losing his mando position for dirrell. Groves against a nobody does nothing to the card to increase PPV too Dirrell will want the fight in America on his terms with his judges most likely after his brother was perceived to have been robbed against froch, and will only come over for a shed load of money which a PPV fight can bring. Don't think groves dirrell is a big enough fight on its own for PPV though you never know nowadays. Whether groves is bothered about not being the headline is unclear - I'd of thought he'd want the belt and the fight in the UK gives him a better chance of doing so. time scale wise 4 weeks is short notice for a world title fight, however it they are both in training and in shape its feasible, albeit unlikely.
Pissing my sides the card is that shocking, an embarrassment to British boxing. This fella got stopped by a light middle in Charlo and by a lad with a 14-17-1 record...
I like Eddie but feel this card should be avoided as its just no where near PPV standard! I already pay a decent amount for sky! This should have been a treat for sky subscribers! I've already paid PPV on froch and I felt that gave value! This just doesn't! The headline is a decent domestic dust up That would probably make chief support on most PPV shows! The rest on the card is ok! But Not amazing! For example if this was brook v khan or frampton v quigg.... Bellew v cleverly would be decent chief support but not in a million years is it a headlining PPV fight!
Is there one world level fight on this PPV bill? I mean Bellew vs Clev will be great but shouldn't a PPV be for a world title or they gonna pay for some **** wbc silver belt?
Got to be honest I quite like this card now, even though it has no outstanding fight there are a lot of good competitive fights with a lot of talent on show. Cleverly vs Bellew Degale vs Periban Groves vs Douglin Smith vs Sjekloca McDonell vs Ramos Quigg vs Otake Joshua vs Sprott And one more to come according to an Eddie Hearn interview with iFL TV I believe it is a highly stacked card with a lot of good fights and some showcase fights like the Joshua fight, I believe it could be one of the best nights of boxing in Britain for a long time. if they could get Haye as that extra fight I would be very happy!
Undercard is ****in wank mate. It's a bit like someone who doesn't know better getting excited about Chelsea vs Maribor, Arsenal vs Plzen etc. Basically just names against minnows who they should beat and if they don't they will have massively let themselves down. Just look at the opponents odds: Periban 5/1 (despite being arguably the best looking fight) Ramos 8/1 Sprott 16/1 Montenegran Smith Opponent 13/2 No odds for Groves or Quinn's opponents yet, but Groves will be around 12/1 at least. It's literally names just in tune ups or keep busy's which should never happen on a PPV especially when the main event is anything but PPV worthy itself. It's not a bad fight for Smith, and a good, progressive one but most will not have heard of that Montengran guy and Smith is an overwhelming favourite. Honestly, if you put £10 on a 4 fould acca with Groves, Joshua, McDonnell and Callum Smith you would do well to return £15 inc your stake. I hate it when you effectively know who wins before it starts. Would much rather have had something like: Bellew-Clev Ormond-Flanagan G. McDonnell-Malinga than a lot of the **** are getting served up on Nov 22. Load of shite, but if you do an 'Eddie Hearn' search of Twitter you get a loads of casuals licking his are, saying how have y'ou managed to pull this off' etc. Sickening
