I keep watching it back and god at first I thought Mosley but I really do think De La Hoya won that fight now.

I've not watched it in years but I had no beef with the decision at the time. So I'd say Mosley to be honest with you. Not an easy fight to score but I think Shane pulled it off.

I haven't watched it in its entirety in years, but I remember it being a terrific fight, which I scored for Shane 116-112. I recall Shane finishing stronger over the 2nd half of the fight.

    Draw.

If somebody won, it was Shane.

At the time of the fight it was semi-controversial, but not really since it was a close fight and close score due to SD.

DelaHoya was dominating the first half of the fight and tired out. Mosley dominated the second half of the fight. At the end both men looked confident that they won.

Personally I scored it 7-5 for DelaHoya, but I was kinda glad Mosley won because a winner shouldn't lose the last three to five rounds uncontested.

This is also probably the peak performance for both fighters. They never looked as good since.

This thread surprises me. I do not recall any major outcry of a robbery or controversy after that one. Aside from some reasonable dissenters and a bunch of DLH die-hards, I don't recall anyone seriously questioning anything about the verdict on that - except maybe the fact that it should have been a unanimous nod for Mosley.

DLH won and that low-life, PED consuming mofo's wins should all be marked with an asterisk.

It probably also depends on what website. I was posted on secondsout at the time. I remember some articles going both ways, but nothing too strong. The decision was overall respected. I remember DLH wanted to contest the decision and have an investigation on corruption. The forum on the secondsout website was about 50-50, although the Mosley bandwagoners definitely shoved it in the faces of the DLH fans.

Mosley didn't have many fans at the time, I don't think he was ranked on P4P lists at that time, he was coming up from 135 so people made fun of DLH for a cherry pick gone wrong. DLH showed he tired out again like the Trinidad fight, so that stigma stuck around. A lot of hoopla for a week and then it went on to the next fight.

9 rounds to 3 for Shane. Easy fight to score.

Yes I agree, people do have a tendacy to get the first fight between these two mixed up with the second fight for some reason which is weird considering that both Mosley-DeLahoya were at or closer to their primes for the first fight than they were for the rematch which is more obvious to the most observant eye if one's paying close attention.

The investigation stuff came after the rematch, not the first fight. As I recall (and I can't be arsed to look), DLH even admitted defeat after that one (unlike the rematch and the Tito bout).

I was either on secondsout or BoxingWise at the time, and I honestly do not remember much uproar over the decision. It was the rematch that had people bent out of shape.

I'll definitely give you DLH won in fight number two, although I scored that one a draw, but the first fight giving Shanes strong finish from rounds 7-12 made it obvious that he won that first encounter between the two.

And FYI, the PED issue in which Mosley came out and confessed to using PED's for the rematch with Oscar just a couple of months after the rematch in 2003 while the PED issue was being rampantly talked about throughout the whole entire sport of pro baseball at the same time, and was something that he never tested positive for, was a one fight thing. The rematch with Oscar and not the first fight. If he was taking the stuff for all of his fights between both of his encounters with Oscar then the PED's sure as hell didn't help him during his two fights with Vernon Forrest or his tuneup with Rafael Marques, Oscar's teammate, now did it? :think

Mosley won the 1st no question. But lost the rematch
