Roy Levesta Jones Jr. is a 5'11 45 year old LMW, MW, SMW, LHW, CW, HW, with a 59-8 42 KO's record. Born in the wonderful state of Florida in the city of Pensacola, he was brutally robbed at the 88 Seoul Olympics where he outlanded his Korean opponent 86 to 32 how's that for impreessive, yet the Korean guy got Gold and later apologized to Roy for the robbery. Unfortunately the rise of Roy Jones Jr. happened to coincide with the steady decline of the casual American fans interest in Boxing, when he started hitting his stride, also happened to be when Tyson was starting his decline and with that decline the fans also seemed to lose interest. Which was very detrimental to fighters like Hopkins, Toney, Griffin, Whitaker, Chavez, Jones and even De La Hoya at the very beginning, its not that people didn't care, hardcore boxing fans did, it just wasn't pulling in the ratings it was in the 80's and ceased to be the global phenomenon it once was.

People don't know what they missed with RJJ he was flamboyant, fast as hell, exciting, athletic, unorthodox, agile, predatory, viciously explosive, and a risk taker. His rapping and personality was just as audacious as his in ring work he would have been a megastar in the 80's but the decade of grunge and PC self loathing no one really cared. But he finally seems to be getting the respect he deserves now, with a lot of newbie fans knowing him from HBO, and going back to research on Youtube what a badass Roy used to be, and quite frankly still is. Although the recipient of many brutal KO losses starting with Tarver he really should retire before coming up against another hard hitting Cruiserweight because a brutal KO at 45 or older may have far longer lasting effect than any at a younger age would. So in case Y'all forgot Re-educate yourselves on the Man who Can't Be Touched Superman Roy Jones JR.:ggg:ggg:ggg:ggg

He owed the IRS millions a few years back. Word is he keeps fighting at his old age, taking a huge risk just to pay off his debt. Quite sad.

I heard he had issues years ago. Also tax problems, dont mean you're broke, they just mean you havent paid. Pac and Floyd have had tax problems, I dont either are broke.

The guy has a cushy well paying gig on HBO and probably picks up 50k or so a fight in Eastern Europe.
Hes also training guys like Jessie Vargas now, so he should be picking uip a cheque there.

I find it hard to see how he could be struggling that much, even if he did somehow blow the 10s of millions he made in his prime.

Roy's tiny little head helped him get knocked into a coma several times but sure was an entertainer before his motor skills left him. His rap skillz too must be an honorable mention.

that was his problem. i think he small head made him the athlete he was as he wasnt carrying anything up top. but having a miniscule head makes your punch resistance atricious.

I remember when he had a semi-pro basketball game in the afternoon and a championship fight that night. I don't know if that is a reflection of how good he was or how poor his opponent was, maybe both.
