What are some fighters that you can think of that have/had great boxing abilities who had potential but squandered those talents because of lack of discipline, weak mentality, glass jaws, injuries, or any other situations? These guys come to mind: Zab Judah Joan Guzman Edwin Valero Ike Ibeabuchi
Edwin Valero. I'm not sure Pacquiao or Mayweather could have beaten him. I think his intimidation factor, power, relentless aggression, could have beaten both of these fighters. This doesn't mean he'd have fought with the right strategy only that it was just the right time for him and he has the perfect style.
am i the only one who thinks of tyson when asked this question? the man had so much talent but wasted it partying and having so many leeches on him.
Poor promotion/management ruined Denis Boytsov. He was doing well in 2009, but then had too few rounds and very soft (cheap) opposition over a period of a several years and consequently regressed.
He had 4 fights in 4 years. He won't step in the ring for 2014. He won the Super Six tournament, but that was 4 years ago. It's been Froch who's been keeping the young lions out of the division. Who beat Groves & Bute? Not Ward.
That's because you didn't know him. Ike arrived in Dallas a crude brawler. Trainer Curtis Cokes molded him into the complete boxer puncher. He out boxed the brawler ..Tua He almost decapitated the boxer...Byrd & was set to have a showdown with Lennox Lewis. A foolish call to a lying gold digging hooker . Then outrageous treatment at the hands of the justice system & his career was ruined. Ike would have been the natural successor to Lennox in my opinion
Ibeabuchi was not in the mix to fight Lewis. Lewis and Holyfield agreed to have the winner of their fight match-up against the WBA #1 contender. The first Lewis-Holyfield fight was a draw, the second fight was won by Lewis. By this time, Ibeabuchi was already incarcerated. Instead of fighting the WBA #1 ranked contender---John Ruiz, Lewis was stripped by the WBA for fighting Michael Grant (who was ranked #5). Don King was instrumental in getting Lewis stripped for not fighting Ruiz.
got hit at will by a crude brawler in tua. beat one of the weakest champs ever in byrd. he is like a musician who dies young. suddenly far better than he was in reality, because he is gone.
