Kovalev is definitely a better fighter he just doesn't have the opponents at his division that can elevate his status. Maidana is a just a bar room brawler with balls which is sometimes all you need to win fights.

To repeat: THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHO IS MORE ACCOMPLISHED AND HAD THE BETTER CAREER SO FAR. THIS IS ABOUT WHO YOU PERSONALLY THINK IS A BETTER FIGHTER.

I made this very clear. Let me repeat this one more time for the slow guys:

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT WHICH FIGHTER YOU PERSONALLY THINK IS BEST, REGARDLESS OF WHO YOU THINK DID MORE OR FOUGHT BETTER FIGHTERS. THIS IS YOUR BEST GUESS, ASSESSING WHAT YOU'VE SEEN THEM DO.

    Thank you.

I think Kovalev is more skilled.

if you're going resume wise, but surely Kova is the better fighter. More composed, more accurate and P4P a harder puncher for me. And if you wanna go up the 'fighter scale', he would land on Floydweather and land him if you catch my drift. :bart

Don't get caught up in the 47/0 hype
I value a boxer who has faced the darkness and bitter sweetness of defeat once they come back and keep rolling.

Both guys are a beast but I have always been a fan of Maidana, even in defeat.
Hell he pulled his ass up in round 1 from two deadly body shots from Khan and IMO still should have been given a draw or the W:good

The Russian has not fully been tested.

Pimp C, aren't you the one who thinks Kovalev is only a "basic fighter"? If so, I think you're way off on that tbh. I think Kovalev's arsenal is one of the most hard to predict, varied arsenals of all the offensive fighters today. Nothing basic about that half of his game to me.

After Hopkins unleashes a masterclass on Kovalev, everyone will be saying Maidana, but it's probably about even.

But didn't Hopkins himself teach that move to SNV during their secret sparring sessions pre-911 when Hopkins was preparing for Trinidad? Or was it SNV who taught B-Hops that move? :huh

Easily Maidana because he's more proven. We will find out how good Kovalev really is in two weeks.
