    It doesn't matter if Cotto vacates the WBC 160lb title. His status as lineal champion isn't predicated on his possession of the WBC title. Cotto has to be beaten, retire or move up in order to lose his status as lineal champion.

    "lineal" holds no weight in this discussion.
    no one looks at cotto as the champion... he is a belt holder that is already milking that title because he knows he got away with beating the other smallest middleweight out there....cotto loses to any and all top 10 natural middleweights.... GGG is hands down the recognized champion.... ask box rec :bart

    It doesn't have to. If the people who are having this discussion don't have a clue - it still doesn't change the FACT that Cotto is the champion @ 160 and Triple Duck is nothing more than a paper champion.

    FACTS. Learn to live with them.

    Have you checked the Ring magazine's ratings for 160? Right there at the top next to "Champion" you will find Cotto's name.


    LOL.

    Even IF this were true, Boxrec does NOT decide who is or who isn't champion @ 160, Genius...

    A championship can be vacated if Cotto does not see himself as MW Champion and wishes to return to LMW

    True. A championship can be vacated. However, Cotto doesn't automatically vacate his middleweight championship by taking a fight @ 154. It doesn't work that way...

    Agreed.

    In this case the #1 and #2 contenders @ 160 would need to fight. Winner becomes new lineal champion @ 160.

    Cotto doesnt last a round with GGG...that tell you all you need to know about who the champion is

    but we wont ever see that because he will milk that win and sit on the title like he has the last 6 months zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Patterson didn't last a round with Liston, didn't stop him being the champ before the fight.

    The overwhelming majority of champions are not the best because they lose to another fighter.

    Golovkin's title claim is entirely political.

    sorry cotto is the paper champion beating a shot one legged martinez.ggg would murder cotto and he knows it so cotto will keep making bull**** excuses to avoid him.1 more thing if cotto refuses to fight ggg then he can't be the number 1 guy at mw.:deal
