Danny Garcia is one of the more complexing boxers I have ever witnessed At first, I have the utmost respect for him, facing guys like Matthysse, Khan, Morales (faded, but still), Holt, Judah (faded, but displayed more heart than he ever did, making it a tough bout), etc. I really had no issue with the Herrera fight, which I expressed on BLH I believe. If you fight all of those great fights in a row, you deserve a "soft touch", and even so, Herrera was an overlooked and damn good fighter heading into the fight (read my fanpost breakdown before the fight). However, Rod Salka? I mean, that fight was an absolute disgrace; an unforgettable disgrace. An incredible boxing talent that Danny Garcia is, a guy with a granite chin (some of those punches he took from Matthysse really shows how great his chin is), impeccable timing, tremendous intangibles, very smart and can adjust, and an all around pretty good at everything. Then, he takes on a guy ranked something like 77th in the division lower than him, a guy who weighed in at 132 1/2 in his prior fight (note: the fight was at 142 pounds, plus Danny is a large JWW who will inevitably move up to welterweight shortly), who had 3 KO’s and lost to some very mediocre boxers, and I could go on and on. The fact they allowed the poor guy, Salka, to be in the same ring as Danny was disgraceful. With that being said, I find it dumb and disrespectful to take credit away from him for his wins against Matthysse and Khan. Yeah, Matthysse had one eye closed. And, who gave him that closed eye? And, Khan? So what if he dominated the opening rounds. Khan is a relatively reckless fighter with a glass chin; someone with great countering, timing and left hook like Garcia was bound to **** him up. I picked him in this fight, too. And I suck at picking boxing matches. Looking ahead ….. of course, I would love to see the Matthysse rematch. Believe it or not, I was one of the few individuals to pick Danny to beat Matthysse in their first bout. In a rematch, I would actually favor Matthysse slightly. I would love to see that fight although I don’t thin Garcia wants it. If not Matthysse, final bouts at 140 against guys like Viktor Postol or Lamont Peterson would not be bad, and I’ll cut down the criticism of him. At 147, it depends when he goes up. I personally favor him to beat some of them. I think Shawn Porter would get very convingly beat (I think Danny’s style is all wrong for Porter), I think he beats Khan again, although this one going the distance in a close bout. I pick him to beat the skilled Devon Alevander pretty smoothly. I pick him (probably) in a really close bout with Brook. I pick him to win a very close decision over Maidana. I do not, however, think he has any chance against the elite fighters in the division. I think Floyd Mayweather Jr. embarrasses him and makes him look foolish en route to a dominating and wide decision. Garcia’s success owes a lot to his timing, and if he can’t time a guy, he can struggle. This is why he would get absolutely picked apart by Manny Pacquiao. Manny has no rhythm. Manny would absolutely dominate him. Bradley, I think it would be an interesting fight but I take Bradley. I take Marquez to win, too. I take Thurman to beat him, too, as I am very high on him. All in all, I don’t think Garcia’s success will translate as much to 147. His lack of athleticism will start to show, also his solid power will be less on display. Also it is a better division (granted Manny Pacquiao is expected to move down to 140 soon). And just for a talking point like it was above, how I would rate Danny: Intelligence — 9 Chin — 10 (I find it to be one of the best in boxing) Power — 8 Speed — 7 Countering — 9 Timing — 9 Defense — 8
He's good enough to KO Amir Khan in less than a third of the scheduled distance and he's good enough to drop and beat Lucas Matthysse when he was viewed as the most dangerous man in the sport.
ahhaha his chin was not tested enough he wobbled from a juah shot ahahahhaha rios and ruslan have much much better chins
Say what you want about him being exposed, personally i think he just didnt take herrera seriously, but with the wins this kid has at only 26 years old how can you say he will never amount to anything? he may have peaked already, but hes already amounted to more than 90% of boxers who were world champions at one point or another.
struggled with ashley theophane! went the distance with a totally past it morales in the first fight! lost * to herrera! struggled with a totally shot Judah! he is pretty average .. he has average power... 50% KO ratio.. he;s no huge puncher he usually goes the distance.. anyone can KO the worlds chinniest fighter - Khan. I feel he got lucky against Matthysse. His resume is poor, when he steps up he will lose. His dad is really entertaining though and tells it how it is
Lots of crybabies up in here. Seems like people still can't deal with the fact that Matthysse/Khan were exposed by Swift. It's been a 2 years since TKO4 and 1 year since UD12. It'll take a while longer I think.
He needs to beat someone with a pulse cause the only good fighter he has beat Matthysse was BLIND :hi:
