Gennady Golovkin is the most overrated fighter in a very long time!

Broner moving up two weight divisions to beat a champion is still better than anything GGG has done.

I think he's the real deal. But it's gonna be hard to match him.

GGG is decorated amateur and shown in pros that he is the real deal.blowing MW contenders left and right.GGG only problem is,that he is from Kazakshtan.if he would have born in the states,he would be labelled as second coming of jesus.and also would already have big fights.

Americans tend to think world runs around them

Your post incorrectly implies that no American fans appreciate GGG, which is obviously a steaming pile of horse dung.

American fans, yes. It's the media and promoters who'd have been all over him earlier.

If people think the hype is crazy now, if he were born and raised here and had a main U.S. promoter from day one, it'd be absolutely off the charts.

That's not what he's saying at all Rummy.
He's saying that if Golovkin would have been an US citizen they would be all over his nutsack by now. That's completely different as no Americans appreciate him.
Being popular in the States largely depends on your passport. Not all of course, but for a large portion. You can spoil and stink out the place when you're American and winning, but you can't when you do the same with a passport from another country, and certainly not one that opposites the US way of thinking.

I think you guys are also overstating the general health of boxing in the US, period.

How hyped would he be? As hyped as Floyd? Maybe. But mind you, Floyd aside, what American superstars currently exist in boxing? I can't think of 1.

The lack of superstars here is exactly why GGG would've been latched on to and hyped like mad if he were born and raised in the U.S.

He'd already have a P4P rating, for starters.

OK, I can agree that he probably would have had a PPV by now. But I still don't know that the degree of his hype would be significantly better than what I gather you're suggesting. Maybe if he was an American boxer around in the 80s or 90s you'd have a better case. But in this day and age? He's somewhere between Floyd and the Hopkins/Ward level I reckon.

Yeah, I know boxing has become a small sport in the US and they aren't real 'stars' at all. I always laugh when some guy here starts a thread about if Floyd is about as popular as Mike Tyson in his prime, because you don't have a single clue if you think so.

But it's relatively speaking in this case.
