why is saunders just a slight favorite over Eubank jr?

He doesn't have a high guard so he's wide open to shots, and he likes to pose and posture like a tit. The fact that he has fought a succession of stiffs, who barely have the ability to stand let alone capitalise on this weakness, has meant that he can get away with it up till now, but he'll be exposed by Saunders.

The reason he has a low work rate is down to his style, not anything to do with what his opponents are doing. He considers himself a sharpshooter so tries not to waste anything. Nothing wrong with that, but you are prone to being outpointed by someone who prefers volume.

And footwork? You watch his feet and they are slow. To get in range he sometimes creeps forward or jumps in. You can time that or just make him eat the jab all night, which is exactly what BJS is planning to do.

That's the way people see it. Can't argue with him being a slight favorite- Eubank looks a beast- fair enough so far against nobodies, and BJS has the imo excellent Ryder win. But still.

I'd have BJS a slight favorite based on resume, but I'm picking Eubank because I think he might have the goods. If Eubank does it, he'll make it look easy.

 

Ryder imo is a very good win. Much better than any one Eubank has fought.

Their records are not the be all and end all. You can also watch them fight and listen to what boxers and trainers have to say about them. It seems to me that despite BJS having a superior resume, Eubank Jr has a decent chance of winning this fight hence some people betting on him and BJS only being a slight favourite.

 

He fighting journeymen and aint exactly kncoking them out cold.

Despite landing on the geezer at the weekend at will he didnt exactly looked out on his feet did he?not syaing was poor stoppage mind as obviously was hopelessly overmatched.

True but imo BJS looked quite **** in that fight. If he had looked spectacular in that fight more people would probably be more convinced that he wins and Eubank Jr loses.

 

Exactly, this power people keep bangin on about, surely he'd have put some1 out by now considering what he's been fighting, but he hasn't they've all been ref jumping in!

If it was all about records deciding a fight, Tyson and Toney would've obliterated Douglas and Jones. Eubank would've obliterated Calzaghe, etc.

 

Steve Robinson would've wiped the floor with Naseem, etc etc.

 

if Saunders fought Eubank Jnr in an amateur 3 round fight would beat Eubank Jnr 100 times out of a 100.

Saunders has gone the full 12 round distance plenty of times against good opposition.. so why will he not just completely take him to school for 12 rounds

Eubank Jnr hasn't fought absolutely nobody, he's fought complete stiffs and struggled with Tyan Booth, Terry Carruthers and Jason Ball For ****s sake. He has virtually no amateur pedigreee.

You must be completely crazy to be betting or even just picking Eubank Jnr to win this fight. A boxer who was a top amateur beats a boxer who was a crap amateur 98 times out of a 100 in the pros.

 

Eubank Jr (only lost to the US #1 in 3-2 decision) was a frightening amateur so I do doubt Saunders would've beat him in the amateurs.
