That's correct... He's not getting any kind of credit for Hopkins' accomplishments, and rightly so. Slappy Joe retired years ago. His resume is what it is and it's not improving simply because someone he fought is still fighting at a high level.

I do not agree in suggesting he gets that kind of boost in ranking even though he beat Hopkins. He was a good fighter and I feel that he never gets a fair estimation on this forum. Unfortunately, the ts is suggesting an over the top premise

I agree... He was a good fighter. If not for his idiotic stans making ridiculous threads about him knocking out a prime Roy Jones and being a top 5 ATG, I believe he would get much more credit, but these morons **** everybody else off and Calslappy gets **** on as a result. :yep

The crux of the matter is There was no way Calzaghe legitimately beat Hopkins. Joe knows that himself. He got a gift. This was further borne out by Calzaghe refusing to rematch Nard in Wales. Slappy didn't want his cowardly ass kicked up and down the Rhondda Valley
Calzaghe was VERY VERY over rated

Exactly. Zags is a top five all time at 168. He's nowhere near top 50 all time p4p, and he's nowhere near the top twenty at 175. TS's notions are ludicrous.

Not even close. 175 has a deep history of great fighter.

This is by far the stupidest logic I've heard on this forum. And I'm a big Calzaghe fan. But eeking out a SD over a fighter doesn't entitle a fighter to piggy back off the legacy & career of the fighter he beat. The ONLY way Calzaghe could lay claim to the legacy BHOP has claimed, after their fight...is to have actually done the things BHOP is doing right now!!

If you don't see Calzaghe taking on killers after their fight like...Kovalev, Cloud, Pavlik, Pascal, Dawson....he doesn't get the benefit having done so. Calzaghe was great but an ATG based off of Hopkins victories? WTJ. That's idiotic.

Sure you can say oh well it proves how good Hopkins back then...and each Hopkins win makes Joe look better. But ur an idiot if you believe that. Styles make fights...end of story. Out performing a fighter on one night doesn't give you a better overall legacy! Ie.Tyson-Douglas.

    DUMB!!

    Absolutely.

Calzaghe should be a favorite over any light heavy and super middle in the history of the sport.

I personally think he could beat anybody under heavyweight, including Haye.:bbb
