How good was Tommy Morrison really?

No he doesn't. They both have crappy resumes. The difference is Briggs has a better chin and is more explosive early.

 

He was an exciting fighter to watch and a promoter's dream. Put him in a fight and it sells tickets. But way way too many surgeries. And I don't know anyone who really buys into that he's better after the surgery thing anyway. It's a subtraction, not an addition.

at any rate, what did Morrison have, like 11 various surgeries? All over the place and from early on.

 

Morrison defeated a far better version of Foreman than Briggs and he won decisively while Briggs was handed a gift. Morrison's win over Ruddock is better than any win on Briggs' ledger. Morrison even lasted longer against Lewis. Briggs only notable win Liakovich was a last second fluke.

 

Outside of the pectoral implants, jaw reconstruction and hand surgery, what else?

 

Outstanding fighter.

Incredible combinations, accuracy and a left hook that is one of the greatest.

A basket case mentally, wild and crazy lifestyle. It caught up to him and weakened him.

A fighter that was all heart and courage, but full of fear and demons.

The man is legend, and he burned out to soon. What a great story.

 

Shoulder or shoulders. Knee or knee's. And elbow or neck/back. guy had major work done all over the place. incredible he did what he did.

but he'd had surgeries before the Mercer fight. I always watch for that kind of thing. Like I said, most people don't care or think it's an addition, not a subtraction anyway. A guy gets rotator cuff surgery and most boxing fans think 1 punch ko's are still there.

 

He died of aids, i wouldnt really call that a great story.

Morrisons resume wasnt anything special but it was ABOVE Briggs.

Briggs resume is godawful.

50 year old Foreman (which he should have lost)
Liakovich (which he was losing)
and then a whole host of taxi drivers, toilet cleaners and hobos and that trend continues to this day, and now hes passed the knowledge onto his adopted son, Deontay Wilder who follows in his fathers footsteps by building a record of koing straight up bums in 1-2 rounds.

Morrisons resume although not great, is still good.

 

But Bruno never went down :good

 

And that isn't even accurate, who the hell started that stupid claim as it floats around this board like toxic gas. Tyson dropped him clean in the first fight.

 

I know, he went down for like 2 seconds and got up straight away.

But he didnt go down like Morrison.

Its like picking the lesser of two evils

one has a **** chin and goes down, but gets up due to his heart. The other, doesnt go down due to his great chin, but freezes because he has little heart.

 

Well, Morrison pulled a Bruno against Mercer. Dangling lifelessly in the ropes, and falling over after the ref waves it off. That's the Bruno way.

 

Expect a Bruno vs Morrison thread soon.

Bruno could take alot of punishment without going down (he would just freeze), Morrison goes down a lot easier but guaranteed always gets back up (except against Ray Mercer).

 

Oh yeah, forgot Bruno went down like a rock against Bonecrusher. He just spent so much time laying on the ropes and taking shots, we all just remember him being stopped on his feet I guess.
