It was a legit 10 count..it's up to the discretion of the ref and he doesn't want GGG to land a killer blow.

    :yep
That referee was still counting 15 seconds after the fight had ended. If he had known the rules that were in effect he wouldn't have made a fool out of himself by so desperately trying to save Bute.

Fast .....but Rubio wasn't exactly in a hurry to beat the count. He laid on his back longer than he should have and he wasn't "out" he went down and I'm sure he was hurt, but he could've gotten up sooner to ensure he would have beaten the fast count.

As I've said a few times before, Jack Reiss is a terrible ref. One of the worst in boxing. No doubt about that. He gets WAY too involved.

Anyway, the count was very poor.

He should never ref again. Period.

    This.

I think Rubio simply didn't want to continue and knew he was going to get some much bigger shots landed on him if he did continue.

The count was definately a bit quick though but i'd rather have a count that was 9 or 10 seconds long then some other recent counts that were too slow and lasted between 15-20 seconds.

Far from the worst count ever.

9 to 10 might have been a bit quick but at that point I think the ref had already decided Rubio was in no state to continue whether he was "up" or not.

Also, I though the ref was to order the fighter to the neutral corner and then pick up the count from the timekeeper, I didn't think there was any rule about this being from the count of 3? What if the other fighter takes longer to move to the neutral corner?

If thats a legit rule has anyone got a link/proof?

Just rewatched. Hit go on the stopwatch as Rubio's glove hits the canvas. The Ref wasn't perfect but he got it pretty much right. He says 10 a bit too quickly after he says 9 but I that's because he was a little slow going through 7, 8, 9.

Rubio was not up within 10 seconds and you should try to get up within 8 just to make sure. Rubio didn't seem to know what was going on until the ref got to 6, 7.

Rubio wouldn't have been able to get up and be ready to continue no matter how perfect the count was imo.

A quick count and Rubio took his time getting up as well.

True. But I didn't like Jack Reiss' quick count.

GGG doesn't need any help from a bad referee to knock people out.
