FFS, didnt someone do a thread recently where a BRITISH documentary was made on Roy Jones, best fighter on the planet, around 2000 and Calzaghe a British fighter, was not even mentioned anywhere in the documentary.

Don't know if you're trolling or being serious, but this is exactly why I can't stand Joe Calzaghe as a person.

As a fighter, he's always had my respect, and always will.

But as a person, no chance.

    The guy is Mr. Contradiction.

We know what he said in 1999. We know what he said in 2003.

Just a few months ago, he was in the press, telling Carl Froch that he was immensely proud of all of his WBO title defences.

It's those continuos WBO title defences, that cost him bigger fights sooner.

Quite frankly, only an idiot would argue otherwise.

Now he claims he chased Roy for six years.

So I want you, or anyone else, to explain in your/their own words, how the F**K you can chase someone, who fights in ANOTHER COUNTRY at A DIFFERENCE WEIGHT CLASS??

Joe had a 15 year career.

He spent 14 of those 15 years, fighting in Europe (obviously mainly Britain) at SMW.

Roy was considered the best fighter in the World, and fought in the U.S. at LHW.

Yet, only in his last year did Joe get on a plane and move up in weight.

So yeah, he chased him really hard.

About as hard as my 85 year old Grandma could chase someone.

WAKE THE F**K UP and smell the coffee!

The guys been kidding himself and all his fans for years, forever proclaiming - 'I wanted the big fights but couldn't them'

I read just yesterday, where Frank W said that Joe wanted to defend his WBO belt against a guy called Freeman Barr.

Now in 2003, when he couldn't unify with Ottke, there was nothing left for him at SMW.

This is a 6ft guy, with a natural walking around weight of 196 pounds.

He had the opportunity of moving up to LHW, to fight Julio Gonzalez, who'd just beaten Dariusz M.

The WBO stated that because he'd made so many defences of his WBO, SMW title, they would elevate him to be the no.1 contender at LHW, if he chose to move up.

    What happened?

    Nothing!

He stayed at SMW and went on to fight Mitchell, Mkrtchyan and Salem.

Yes, you're right, Roy decided after brief talks in 2002, that he DIDN'T WANT to fight Joe.

    Do you know why?

Because his other options were Antonio Tarver and John Ruiz!

What did Joe bring to the table?

He wouldn't even go up to LHW.

Roy would had to have gone down to SMW.

    For what?

    Joe's WBO?

Roy fought Joe when Joe had accomplished things, when he himself, was 9 weeks shy of his 40th birthday.

Yet you're telling us, that Roy feared him, at 33, when Joe hadn't done anything?

    Right!

Anyone with half a brain cell, KNOWS that Joe never really wanted him, and did nothing to force the fight.

    :hi:

Pretty much well said right there.

How could anyone half sane even dare believe that liar when he says he wanted this fight. This guy is such a joke that he was jealous of the attention Carl Froch was getting even before Froch fought Taylor and went on to completely **** on Calzaghe's entire career.

    You always say this.

Roy didn't always look for the path of least resistance.

It doesn't matter how many times you type it, it isn't true.

Calzaghe definitely is jealous of Froch.

Froch is world renowned, respected, no one can **** on his legacy and i hope he gets his Vegas fight, he deserves it.

In some ways Froch is the Anti-Calzaghe.

Put it this way, if there were 2 DVDs on sale in a shop, one was Calzaghes Greatest Hits and the other Frochs Greatest Hits, i know which DVD id buy.

Roys path of least resistance included Hopkins, Toney and Tarver

Calzaghes perilous path included Lacy, Manfredo and Bika amongst others.

Calzaghe was such a joke that he felt threatened and jealous of Froch even before Froch started to establish a name for himself.

I know which DVD I'll buy too, the one that will surely be out of stock due to its popularity while the other stacked one stares at you in disbelief as you pass on its historic cover of Lacy and Kessler.

I read somewhere that Calzaghes team did offer Froch a fight, to which Froch declined, because he was a novice at the time with only a few fights.

And then they were meant to fight again a few years later, but Calzaghe decided to face Manfredo instead. Obviously the more 'lucrative' option.

Not surprised they offered him a fight when he was a novice. Those are the primal targets team Calzaghe specialized at.

'but but but Froch ducked Calzaghe'

    Novices or old men.

Whatever peoples opinions are on Ottke, should be the same for Calzaghe too.

If Calzaghe is an ATG then so is Sven Ottke.

Calzaghe is in no way an ATG and not even close. Only drunks from Wales rate him an ATG. While he had superior abilities he failed to consistently display them against top opposition. Calzaghe's isn't even HOF material for those that understand what HOF stands for. How could anyone be inducted in the Hall of FAME when he's hardly known in his own country.
