It won't sell as well as fights involving Pac and Mayweather but for the hardcore fans it's the biggest fight this year no doubt.

It has the potential to be the most significant fight of the year with the possibility of either a new star being established or an old veteran doing the seemingly impossible and beating the younger, harder punching fighter perceived to be the future of the division.

The timing of this fight is interesting. With the 40th anniversary of the Rumble in the Jungle which was another fight with an old veteran, who many thought could be in for a serious beating, going up against the odds by facing a huge hitting younger champion. Could we see a repeat and the old man's experience being the deciding factor? I for one can't wait to find out.

Of course, those same tactics also helped him in the Taylor, Calzaghe and Dawson fights right?

Definitely the biggest fight of the year for me. The only other fight I'll compare it to in terms of hype and excitement for me this year is Froch vs Groves II.

it is the biggest by sheer dint of making history, but will be by far from the best.

Typical Hopkins: me me me, it's all about me! I'm the greatest, I'm 49, I'm an alien! Look at me and worship me!

    rounds 1-4

Hopkins starts slow as he usually does. Kovalev more active. Hopkins begins to land single counter shots. kovalev up 3-1.

    rounds 5-8

Hopkins starts to throw more combinations as he gains confidence. Kovalev showing signs of tiring, huffing and puffing.

    rounds 9-12

Hopkins knocks down Kovalev twice. Fight looking one-sided in favour of hopkins.

I agree.. But at the same time I can't help but cringe at all the ways Hopkins fights go sideways. What are the betting odds on a DQ or NC?

Meh. I mean sure he kinda seems like that kind of a person but thats whats expected of him.

He should be selling the fight just as Kovalev should be as well.
