Hopkins doesn't understand what he's getting himself into. This isn't a blown up WW in Tito, a slow overrated punching bag in Pavlik, a 4 round fighter in Pascal, a faded version of RJJ etc. This is a ruthless, cold hearted Russian Terminator who is coming to take his head off. Kovalev by 5th round tko.

This is just a bridge too far.

I thought he was going to get hammered by Pavlik but this man is a different sauce.

Could be,but also we have to remember Kovalev has feasted with fighters like Agnev,Sillah,Cleverly.there is big gap between Hopkins and Agnev.

Kovalev is favourite, but i don't think Kovalev easily beats Hopkins.and we have seen this time after time, what happens when fighter steps up to next level.

    Really hard match to predict.,

kovalev will be suspect, until he goes twelve rounds. same with golovkin. plenty of guys have looked like killers, only to fade in the later rounds. that being said, i'm figuring kovalev gets dq'd, for fighting fire with fire.

    Nope.

Kovalev is nothing and has beat nobody. Only sweet, artificial HYPE. Just look at how he fights, he's as predictable as they come, and the slowest fighter in the division.
Plus he has a suspect chin.

No, but like all boxers he has a suspect ridge over his eyes.

Hopkins will target Kovalev with deliberate head butts, and perhaps open a nasty cut.

Maybe you are right Kovalev is formidable and maybe the best fighter Hopkins has faced at light heavy, which at almost 50 is a remarkable undertaking.

I'm favouring Kovalev but I think this will be a competitive fight. Even if it's not and Hopkins get's blown away you still have to give BHop kudos for having the balls to step into the ring with a confirmed killer at his age.

How is he hype? How is it artificial? If you don't think he's any good that's an opinion, but in terms of having had a career designed somehow to 'make him look good', he hasn't... at all.

At every stage he has tried to fight the best available - which unfortunately given the state of LHW hasn't given him a massively impressive resume, but any 'hype' has come about because he's KOd everyone but in front of him.

Naturally Kovalev is unproven at the top level, but so is every fighter until they fight there - are they all hypejobs until proven?

Tarver was very similar to Kovalev: a bigger, more powerful guy who punched in straight lines.

    Easy schooling for Hopkins.

To some degree, yes.if they prove themselfs at the top.then the hype is justified.
Kovalev is definetly very good, but before he fights Hopkins.we don't really know if the all hype is justified.

Bute was highly hyped.then he faced Froch.there are countless examples.

Hypejob is still strong word to use.but this is Kovalev chance to prove he is worldclass.Kovalev is lucky that 175pounds got fighter like Hopkins etc..go look MW.GGG could be even better than Kovalev.but he is still trying to show he is more than hypejob.because MW doesn't have fighters like Hopkins.

I rate Kovalev highly, what i have seen.but i'm not totally sold still.this fight with Hopkins shows where he stands.if he happens to lose,i think many would say Kovalev was little bit too over hyped.

We can't say Kovalev is second coming of Jesus before he fights somebody proven/quality top class fighter.he has definetly shown signs of greatness, but with Sillakh,Campillo etc.. We really don't know
