thing about kovalev is, he's such crap...hopkins has beaten guys much better than him. tito was a wrecking machine...hopkins schooled him and knocked him out. dlh got destroyed. tarver. winky wright. jermaine taylor and calzaghe only got a controversial decision wins over him. then hops beat pavlik with ease...and hops has beaten young strong guys like shumenov, pascal, cloud etc in recent fights. kovalev on the other hand has beaten some conplete non-entities...agnew? caparello? who the fcuk are those guys? the thing, is people make a big deal about hopkins age, but to be honest, a 50 year old is not what people think it is...i have buddies that age and they're capable of doing the same things they did when they were 25....most boxers tend to get worn out through numerous beatings over the years coupled with a fast lifestyle...but hopkins lives like a monk and he's never taken a sustained beating. he doesn't over train. he's gonna be just as strong as kovalev. he's got the experience. he's got the hopkins chip on the shoulder that will never let him lose.
you do know that was nothing but a hollywood fantasy movie created by a white guy about a white guy becoming the heavyweight champ during the 70's and 80's when black men actually had an interest in heavyweight boxing. nothing in reality even remotely close to that movie has ever happened or ever will.
Bull****. Hopkins knows exactly what he's gotten himself into. BUT being Bernard he has taken the fight ANYWAY. You gotta respect that ****. I tihnk he he knows that he could be blitzed but he still has faith in his skills if he's given the opportunity by Kov to use them. Odds arent looking good for Bernard tho, but on the night he could still pull it off, we'll have to wait and see...
I am a big Hopkins fan and even though he keeps on amazing me and pulling out victories where i thought he would be too old. This is literally the first time i ever worry about his health.... i know Hopkins sees things he can exploit in Kovalev. Kovalev is no hype job, and Hopkins knows this.... but hes going through with it anyway. Stephen Edwards talked about Kovalev as well being a extremely scary fighter, he generates incredible power without having to loadup. He also has a huge punch variety and it just flows very naturally for him. This might be the first time in over a decade where i won't stay up late to for a Hopkins fight.
Feel free to bump this thread, no problem for me. I am totally sure this will be an easy victory for Hopkins, and i back up my beliefs. I'm gonna bet full in for Hopkins. IF he'll loose, i'll admit i was wrong. Until then, logic and rationality suggests that Kovalev is totally unproved and untested, and only a name due to hype campaign and fans liking his style and character. You can see with your eyes how stunningly slow, flat footed and predictable he is. Plus he doesn't seem to have a good stamina, and his chin has been cracked in the past.
I get the feeling that Hopkins is looking on Kovalev as another Pavlik. A younger and bigger punching fighter but one who has nothing about him that Hopkins hasn't seen before and who's style is tailor-made for him. Time will tell if he's right. But one thing can count on is that Hopkins wouldn't have taken the fight if he wasn't sure he knew what Kovalev was capable of and that he wasn't equally sure he could beat him.
Hopkins is an alien. Unless Kovalev is bringing Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum with him, Hopkins' defensive force field will hold.
Fixed. Either appreciate what Hopkins has done previously when no one gave him a shot to do so, or continue being a moronic piece of crap. If it wasn't for Hopkins fighting those guys and beating them you wouldn't be calling them "slow" or whatever other nonsense you have coming out of your ass.
You lose all credibility when you use fiction to make a point Do you HONESTLY think Kovolev is a monster ROFL Bernard has been " in touble" before he came through it. Bernard will be Jack the Giant Killer next week This content is protected
I am a Hopkins fan but this fight might just be a bit too much. I am not ruling out a Hopkins upset, but that chance is very slim.
Hopkins usually struggles with guys who are more athletically gifted than him. Kovalev doesn't fit that mold. Bernard is 49 tho...
