If Kovalev beats Hopkins & Stevenson, will they say "the 175 division is weak"?

Whoops. I misread that the thread when I voted. I thought it said "If Hopkins beats Kovalev..."

In the reverse case, not really.

They're gonna shower Kovalev with praise. And if he does beat Bhop and does so in impressive fashion, he'll deserve it imo.

If Bhop beats Kovalev, the media will shower him with praises but after a short time quite a few fans will talk about how Kovalev was overrated (which he is) and how Stevenson is also overrated (which he is as well)

Truth is, that the division is weak and thats the reason Bhop is even fighting right now.

yes "they" will try and diminish Kov any way they can, just as they try and fail to do with the brothers K, and with GGG

This is a joke, right? The klits era has been extremely week, there is no two ways around it. GGG's era hasnt been defined yet but it has time to evolve. And while there is certainly potential at 175 its ridiculous to say the division is strong. I'll pose the same question to you as i did freedom (aka Carchaias),.....out of those 39 name how many have fought top 10 fighters or even each other? What reliable boxing scholar would ever claim greatness based on raw ability against nobodies? So aTs's whole diatribe is based on nationalistic BS...nothing more. If you want to buy into it cool, but real boxing fans will tell you mkst of it means nothing at this point.

Some will give him no credit, and will diminish his other wins. You know, the same ones that discredit Klitschko, GGG, etc. They are 100% predictable.

But if Sergey wins, he'll have unified three world titles and hopefully they won't take them away from him (they way they did to Dariusz M when he unified three titles at 175).

By they do you mean Americans?

Because it only seems to be Americans bitching about European boxers.

Lets be honest there are 3 very good fighters that are leagues ahead of anyone else at the minute, it is a weak division there's no dispute over that, having a few good fighters doesn't make a strong division.

    I've noticed a pattern too..

You have some weird obsession with Eastern European fighters. Even though you are from nowhere near there, you will nuthug and obsess over basically ANY fighter from ANY Eastern European country. You act like the whole world is against them and that any fighter that is not from there is a cheater and has everyone in his back pocket and that is the only reason they win. What's with that?

I just want to see them get a fair shake.

The same way many liberals felt about blacks in the early part of the 20th century, when they were discriminated aginst.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Which fighter from Eastern Europe hasn't got a fair shake? You're beloved Wlad Klitschko hasn't been beaten for many years and gets away with illegal tactics in every fight. GGG is unbeaten and highly praised. Kovelev is unbeaten and praised and considered the most devastating puncher in the sport. what else do you want?

Nobody is discriminating against them, you just dont want anyone leveling any criticisms you dont agree with. You like to dish it out about other fighters (particularly black americans) but dont want to hear it about the fighters you worship. Thats called being biased. :-(

175 right now isn't weak at all. It ain't the Golden Era, but it is a solid division.
