Lewis would have gone on to stop Vitali. Either Vitali's corner stopped it or the ref would have stopped it.

 

Vitali was gonna lose anyways, after round 3 Lennox figured out how to time him and was also blasting him with uppercuts when he tried to clinch.

A barely 80% ready Lennox Lewis defended his world heavyweight title against his #1 contender who was hungry & 100 % focused. This was done at a few days notice after Kirk Johnson dropped out. Name me one other champion who put his title on the line against his #1 contender this way ?? Who else had the balls Lennox showed??? No one I know
Lennox nearly took Vitali's face off he LEGITIMATELY won the fight by stopping Vitali. They had no other option but to stop the fight to save Vitali's eye. Without the cuts Lennox woul;d have KO'd Vitali within a round or two those uppercuts would have decapitated him.
