Depends... Roach Pacquiao Hunter Ward Mayweather Mayweather etc etc I think the fighter is more important. Each trainer has their good and bad points. Roach was trained by his dad. His knowledge & fighting style was aggresive. come forward. almost a brawler... Don't expect amazing defensive coaching from him. Virgil on the otherhand is very good with ring positioning. You see it with the work he does with Khan.. & in everything Ward does. R.Garcia & Maidana...work well together. Rios & Garcia...well Rios is doomed no matter who he trains with.
do you think ward would be even better with a different trainer though might have a nicer style, do you not get the feeling that hunters a bit of a clown
absolutly not. Hunter isn't a clown but he is odd LOL Fight whisperer. The problem is fighters can be fickle mofo's. Amount of people jumping on the Hunter bandwagon was ridiculous...wtf Mares is thinking I don't know.
Not a bad trainer, just needs a fighter he pairs up with nice. Floyd Sr. has some duds. Roach failed with Khan but appears to be working wonders with Cotto, but that remains to be seen since he hasn't fought a good opponent yet (shot Martinez doesn't count).
All Roach needed to do was discipline Khan & keep his mentality in check...That's all Khan needed to do to get past the likes of D.Garcia...instead he was brawling in the gym readying himself for a war with Peterson whilst Roach was massaging Pacquiao's calves in the Phillipines. But still the failures of Khan really highlight his inability to adjust to pressure & use the ring effectivly when moving around defensivly...Roach wouldn't have been able to fix them issues.
yeah hes odd alright, hes always seemed a bit of a clown to me whenever i see him in videos or whatever, theres one where hes telling floyd sr that hes faster and than him and then sr tries to get him in the ring and he scurries off
Khan and Mares aren't good fits for him IMO. I didn't like either one of their performances. Hard to say with Angulo, I think he's just shot to ****.
