Marat Kulumbegov is a 24 year old 5'9 Middleweight with a 14-0 7 KO's record. Born in Vladikavkaz the capital city of the region of North Ossetia in Russia, He's currently residing in Kiev, Ukraine. Marat is appropriately named, his first name is also the name of a Soviet dreadnought battleship commissioned in 1921 just after the end of the Russian Revolution, which itself was named after left wing French Revolution Jean Paul Marat. So he definitely has a fighter's name. He doesn't have a great KO record, but I think that may be deceptive, he seems to step it up and get the KO when he's getting better TV coverage. He's a very good fighter, he keeps his high guard up and barrels through just like a battleship. He tends to want to stand toe to toe and slug it out with his opponent, which will probably get him into trouble in this hard hitting division. But he's only 24 which is a baby in terms of turning pro in Eastern Europe so he has the chance to improve and sharpen up his game even more in time. So Check Marat the Marauder Out He's pretty good.:toney:toney:toney:toney

Ooo. Same Billy Bailey who got squished by Beterbiev (I hear you ask yourselves:D)?

Yes - indeed it is, though it turns out the journeyman is rather tough having only been stopped by a much younger Brandon Gonzalez, Kulumbegov and Beterbiev amongst his 19 losses.

What is curious is that despite quite a busy 3 years since the start of his career in 2011 he's only had the 1 fight in 2014, back in March, and I'm kinda wondering whether him being a Russian in the present Ukrainian climate might be impacting on his career which had been starting to look like it might be gathering pace in 2013 (per boxrec).

Could be it might be time to ply his trade elsewhere unless there's some other issue such as injury which has kept him out of the ring.
