I hear this statement ALL the time but find myself struggling to find any fight that hops proved anyone wrong.

what fighter did hops proved anyone wrong ? I cant think of ANY opponent that hops was truly supposed to lose to that he proved us wrong.

Ohhh wait, he did it with Tarver and that's it.
but this was a Tarver that was 240 lbs for the bit in rocky movie then had to kill himself crash dieting to make the weight. he was so weak and slow in that fight it was pathetic.

he denied it was the problem or even one of the problems because that would had taken too much luster off the rjj win. it really wouldn't. the rjj fight didn't go long enough for that to be evident.

possibly his chin was weakened but I don't think rjj could have a prayer of ever taking that tarver shot.

so outside of a severely hindered and completely drained Tarver when did hops ever prove anyone wrong ?

he proved many wrong by losing fights he should had won, I guess that it proving people wrong time after time.

fyi: kov out boxes hops then ko's that ass between 3 and 7

umm you really think hops has a chance to win ?

what I find funny is everyone claiming how much balls hops has and how much of a warrior he is for taking the killer kov.

LMFAO, there is ONE reason and ONE reason only hops took this fight. the outcome does NOT matter because he is 50.

in his prime he wouldn't fight ANYONE. now he will because the outcomes don't matter, he can ALWAYS just claim being half a century. credit to him for being able to go rounds at 50 but that's ALL he can do is go rounds with nobodies.

kov will steamroll him, sadly kov is so visious he might play with hops and give him a beating for all the **** and disrespect hops has shown for 30 years.

could be a beating for 6/7 rounds or could be quick ko beatdown. its all up to kov, hops has nothing to offer, and I mean nothing. haven't you guys seen hop last 10 fights ? the dude goes through the motions at best, fights not to get hurt

Hopkins has proved people wrong so many times lol.

    He was underdog against:

    Felix Trinidad
    Winky Wright
    Antonio Tarver
    Kelly Pavlik

All guys who were more proven than SerGAY "Glass piece" kovalev.

I watched the 24/7 earlier. Hopkins is going to win this and make it look easy.

    Bwahaha. You're funny...

Why the hate for Kovalev? Kid coulda just milked his belt til the Old guy retired like so many other 'champs' these days.

Instead he took a cut price payday for a fight which is many ways much more of a risk for Sergei than it is for Hopkins (whose reputation and finances are already secured).

Some folk are just hard to please I guess.

I really like Kovalev. He has just yet to prove that he can face a true spoiling counter puncher like Hopkins. If he steamrolls Hopkins It would be awesome. But nobody has been able to do it so far. Kovalev does not have the speed or athleticism to really take it to Hopkins in my opinion....But damn do I hope I´m wrong.

Well after all the hype, I would certainly hope this unstoppable monster, with fists of steel, eyes of fire, and brutality born of generations of selective breeding of Russian Spetsnaz could beat a guy who is closer to pensionable age than he is in age to said mosnter

Going by the 24/7, from Hopkins sparring, i believe he is going to make it an inside fight.

I dont think Sergei is very good on the inside, he is more of a mid range bomber.

Hopkins is going to get right in Kovalevs face and stay there all night, Kovalev needs space to throw his punches, space which Hopkins wont give him.

Expect a boring, messy affair with lots of hugging/clinching and headbutting from Hopkins. Hopkins will be turning him, hitting, clinching, getting out of the dangerzone.

Hopkins CHOSE this fight, that tells you all you need to know.
He didn't want to fight Dawson, knew it was a bad match up.
Wants no part of Ward, again, he knows bad match up.
    He chose to fight Kovalev.
