Why are medical commissions allowing Hopkins to fight Kovalev?

    Help me with this:

I usually don't follow any other weight classes than the heavyweight division, so I don't know much about Hopkins and Kovalev.

    But...

Kovalev seems to be one of the most dangerous punchers at the moment. He killed a guy in the ring.

On the other hand, we have a future HOF'er who is 50 years old. Hopkins is old and slower on his feet. He also has a chin issue. It is too good to break with the first punches Kovalev will throw. I believe it is a huge risk to let a 50-year old fight the most dangerous puncher on the planet, it is unjustified for medical reasons to let this fight go through.

Saturday, it ain't about who will be the champ, but it will be about surviving. I fear for Hopkins' life in this bout.

    Opinions?

Because he's a world champ and has recently beaten top 10 opponents. Same principle as saying 'why did the commission let tyson fight a fully grown heavyweight champ at only 20 years old, he's just a kid'

He's medically approved to fight, doesn't matter if it's vs Jonah Hill or Steve Rogers.

He passed the physicals, he's on amazing shape and not for a 50 yo but for anybody. He's beaten top tens recently...what's the issue? If Bhop feels to much pressure he will find a way to weasel out anyhow. He's stupid but not to stupid to not save himself.

You should take notice of other weight divisions

    That's my opinion

Why are people saying he faked the shoulder injury in the Dawson fight? Everything I read said that he legitimately have a shoulder dislocation. Is there something I missed? Surely you can't expect him to have fought with a dislocated shoulder.

How does James Toney keep getting licensed to fight, he's not much younger than Hops??

The late HIV POSITIVE Tommy Morrison was granted a boxing license to fight in West Virginia in 2007...

Hopkins is the last person id worry about, he's most likely gonna win this fight he's been in the ring and beaten a lot better fighters than Kovalev...,

As long as you pass the battery of tests, you're cleared to fight. Fight physicians and his own personal Dr. Approve the license, so if they reach a consensus that he is physically fit to fight, he gets to fight. Its a physical ability rather than an age thing. He's 49, but a young 49, he doesn't mistreat his body and is constantly training. That, and his boxing style ages well.

What makes you think Hopkins has a chin issue?

They are just a lot of bitter haters who have to denigrate the man to get their jollies. No evidence to support their claims, it's just them changing the facts to suit their agenda or opinion.

The idea that Hopkins who got dropped twice by Pascal in the first 3 rounds and continued would quit having barely lost 2 rounds to Dawson is ludicrous.

He did have a dislocated shoulder I saw the pics of it Plus Dawson DELIBERATELY fouled him & should have been DQ'd
