A lot of talk in the past about a 'Journeymen Prizefighter' - having recently read the book Journeymen almost every one of them mentioned being very interested in taking part if / when.I think it would be a brilliant idea & would defo look into attending, they are valuable members of the fight scene & barring the odd few I think a lot could of achieved a lot more under different circumstances.Give them something back, a night in the limelight, faces on a poster & most importantly - a good chance of a pay day!

Rubbish, there were loads of these tournaments done for Journeymen and novices in the UK in the 60s and 70s, they almost finished the sport.

There was a lot that happened in the 60 / 70's that nearly finished the sport.

*It's worth noting there were a lot of people who thought Prizefighter in general would ruin the sport in the UK, which it hasn't.

I'm not talking about throwing Novice's in - I'm talking about a select few journeymen - who have held their own with a host of top level fighters.

It ruins fighters records, it has no relevance to pro boxing, if you want to watch three round fights, watch your local amateur boxing night, they will be glad of the support. Pro boxing should learn from the past, and make sure these tournaments do not lead to further lazy promoting.

It would make for a fascinating build-up - all the stories and unusual records, etc. But the quality of action would fukking suck.

Ruins fighters records? why does it need to be about records? Look at Sam Eggington for example, never won - on two attempts I believe. But now he's fighting on shows he'd of had no chance getting on without that exposure. Rocky Fielding was a raw novice when he won the series , he's since developed quite well.. What the normal series do is give novices, middle of the road fighters & those towards the end a massive oppurtunity. And tbh on any show nationwide you'll find 2 or 3 4rder's plus a couple of 6's.It serves a purpose & I believe would sell well if the journeymen were selected correctly.

I disagree - I'd rather see the journeymen put in there with a chance of winning - fairly treat by judges etc & if they believe they can win, chances are they will perform to they're best ability - they've been in with the whose who of British boxing & the vast majority have gone the distance, the majority of the time. Take Max Maxwell for example.

So by posting a clip of Audley & a fella in an un even fight means the idea is terrible? that's like showing a GGG fight and saying 'aah no point in it he's ruining the sport' (in no way comparing Audley to GGG there but the point is the same)

I'm talking about a JOURNEYMEN prizefighter - where WELL SELECTED fighters are entered. It's also worth mentioning there have been many good , even fights in the series too.
