It's in dispute because (some of us) can't see much evidence to suggest he has a weak chin. What makes you think he has a weak chin?

Nobody has even mentioned Kenny Anderson who was a whisker away from stopping Groves. However you want to call it, Groves is a vulnerable fighter. He also has a lot of talent, though, which makes him intriguing.

Moves about too much which looks great when it's all going to plan

When someone can time him and work him or wear him out he's fuct

If they don't he ll run rings rd them

Average chin IMO. If he was chinny there is no chance he wd have gone toe to toe with Froch in he first encounter and actually come off better in a few instances. That's a rare thing

Just read all my comments from the last few days. They don't even include anything about the Kenny Anderson incident. I just think people try too hard to convince others/ themselves he's not chinny, because if he wasn't he would be really formidable.

    From reading your comments I don't see much reason to consider him chinny. Your reasons for thinking he is chinny seem to be;

    1. Because he doesn't have particularly good stamina or defense - Personally I disagree with that because for me chin is your ability to take a punch to the head, completely separate from stamina or defense.

    2. Because Froch KO'd him - I also disagree with that because anybody can be KO'd if a good punch lands perfectly, Froch is known for hitting hard, it was a beautiful shot and even with Groves' apparent lack of stamina and defense, he still went quite a few rounds with Froch before he eventually hit the deck.

You also seem to be a bit biased. You seem to really like Froch and really dislike Groves. You say the punch that Froch KO'd Groves with wasn't all that but the punch that Groves dropped Froch with was some super punch that would have KO'd anyone. I see no reason to think Groves' KD punch on Froch was any better than Froch's KO punch on Groves.

As I said earlier though, that's your opinion and that's fine. He might well be chinny but I just haven't seen enough evidence to conclude that he is chinny.

Turning away? Yeah, with his chin high in the air and exposed. Let's not leave out all the details, eh?

Pretty selective in what you touch upon. Ive hardly mentioned stamina or defence. What about the Bute comparison? He took similar shots for rounds and wasn't even floored once. How about powers of recovery? Froch turned the fight around whereas Groves was unable to walk for minutes.

The reason I make tthe comparison between Groves shot on Froch and Froches KO shot of Groves is because so many people say "that shot would KO anyone in the division", about the shot Groves got hit with, it's just not true. As I've just mentioned Bute took similar shots for rounds, Froch wouldn't have been dropped, nor would Kessler, and I would wager Bika, Abraham, DeGale and Dirrel would survive it.

Bottom line, is he chinny? Rephrase that to how much punishment can he take? Simplify that to is he durable, and the answer is categorically no, no matter how
you dress it up, he has a weak chin. I wish he didn't, as if he could hold a better shot he would possibly be our p4p best fighter.

Bute lasted 5 rounds. Groves lasted 9 the first time and even then the stoppage was BS. Groves then lasted 8 rounds in the second fight. If Bute was hit with that shot the fight would have been over too.

Froch's powers of recovery are better than Groves' but not being able to recover from that shot does not make one 'chinny' imo

That's completely subjective. I believe that shot would have KO'd anyone in the division (especially with a British ref). Sometimes a punch lands perfectly it was like Pacquiao's KO of Hatton or Marquez KO of Pacquiao.

Again, he might be chinny but getting KO'd by that punch does not prove it imo.

Going in circles a bit now, you've failed to convince me otherwise so I suppose we will have to wait until Groves fights a top 10 SM.

if he gets fitter he might hold a shot a bit better, until then he will be vulnerable and I think he is an apprehensive fighter now. Needs to to get better people around him.

His voice has changed since before the 2 Froch fights, some damage has been done.
