The trouble with a journeyman Prizefighter is the same as putting non-league football on TV. The hardcore fans will watch it but the casuals would say "this is crap" and switch off after a couple of rounds never to return. Most journeymen only know how to fight one way - defend and don't hit back, don't do anything that will trouble the home fighter. It's the way they make their living and good luck to them but it wouldn't make for good TV, no matter how noble the cause would be.

To an extent I agree with you , however - plenty of casuals tune in to watch the normal prizefighters, even some of the terrible HW ones. No I think if the Matchroom marketing was behind it & a good fight prior to the final (Say AJ at York Hall) then it would sell & people would watch also.
There is limited TV time for boxing. And you want to use one of these spots to watch journeyman fight journeyman in what were known as exhibition bouts a few years ago? Go down to the local gym and watch the sparring then, I suspect you will not have to pay much to watch it, and can do so virtually everyday if you wish.
I've got visions of it being a succession of bottom of the bill fights that you see at small hall shows - the sort where you could write WPTS4 down at the start of each fight and pay no more attention. A tournament like the Channel 5 one would be a much better way of doing something different.
